Wolfmother

Truly a band out of time, the Australian power trio Wolfmother were conceived in 2000 -- about 30 years too late, considering that the musicians' psychedelic brand of proto-heavy metal sounded similar to the late-'60s/early-'70s craft of Blue Cheer and Black Sabbath. Comprised of vocalist/guitarist Andrew Stockdale, bassist/organist Chris Ross, and drummer Myles Heskett, Wolfmother took the initiative of recording a four-track demo in 2004 for the purpose of booking shows. So sterling were the results, however, that the band soon found itself re-recording the material for official release via the local label Modular Records. A second EP, Dimensions, appeared in 2006, and Wolfmother made the jump to the majors in early 2006, courtesy of an American distribution deal with Modular through Interscope Records. A self-titled album debut appeared in May and reached the Top 40, resulting in a trophy for Best Hard Rock Performance at the 2007 Grammy Awards. Co-founders Ross and Heskett left the group the following year, leaving Stockdale and new members Ian Peres (bass, keyboards), Aidan Nemeth (guitar), and Dave Atkins (drums) to carry the torch with 2009's Cosmic Egg. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia, Rovi

Nice to hear a new sound from the old days
I love this band.... they never disappoint.
Totally Unrecognized talent. Love the sound these guys represent.
Joker and The Theif
This band is really quite fascinating. Their music is wonderful. Shame that it seems their moment of fame passed. I hope they come back with something remarkable and get more recognition!
Far Away and Eyes Open = greatest songs ever!!!
What they meant is they take some influence from Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath.

Who wrote the lyrics to White Unicorn for Pandora? The chorus is all wrong. It should be...

And I know it's on your mind
We've been drinking on the wine
That we drank from the serpents vine
Now we live in another time

And this verse is missing...

Sister can you tell me when the day turns to night
She left without a word and wondered inside
How many days must I still wonder why
And see her face in every passer by

I'm sorry you don't hear the young Robert Plant that the rest of us hear.
I don't understand the comparison to sabbath they are so uniquely different from them it doesn't make sense. Good band and tunes but light years away from zeppelin and sabbath. I mean who writes these biographies

Rock Band, Guitar Hero, and Pandora are the three greatest things in life
Wolfmother.. they're just.. They are perfect.
30 years too late?! Psshhhh... It's never too late for some great-soundi n g rock!
This doesn't even sound like jack white.
Thanks Pandora for letting me know that this ISN'T Jack White!

2) Pandora!
So much like led zep this should catch on more

Wolfmother are a f*kin awesome band!
You will be kissed on the nearest possible Friday by the love of your life. Tomorrow will be the best day ofyour life. However if you don't post this you will die in 2 days. Now you've started reading so don't stop. This is so scary. Put this on at least 5 songs in 143 minutes. When done press f6 and your lovers name will come on the screen in big letters. This is scary cause it really works
Only by a anti-stretch of the imagination do they sound remotely like Black Sabbath.
This is what jack white would sound like if he were foreign. Much more illusion and such vs bluesy American guitar rock
I first heard joker & thief in shrek 2 when Prince Charming was at taking far far away . Best song!
The White Stripes do not compare to Wolfmother.. . W o l f m o t h e r is real rock.

Modern day arena rock at its best. Every song on the first disc is amazing.
The Guitar sounds like what Jack White would play too.
Man does he sound like Jack White?
He sounds like Jack Whie.
First heard Joker and the Thief in NFS Carbon a while back, now Woman is one of my favorite songs. They sound just like 70's metal, which in case you don't know, is some of the best music ever made.
The lead singer sounds like Ozzy Osbourne somewhat, and the sound reminds me of Steppenwolf and those early heavy metal bands in the 70s. Pretty awesome!
Awesome band!! I love these guys-true Rock N Roll!!
I used to listen to these guys when I was like 8. There music still doesn't get old.
Don't read this because it really works. You will be kissed by the love of your life on the nearest possible Friday. Tomorrow will be the best day of your life. So I'm watching Hangover2 and I hear this awesome tune when they take the boat. Love Train .. WOW!! I guess I'm a little slow but I'm on board now.
I first heard the Joker & the Thief on an internet radio station back in 2006, I loved it & got their album, every song kicked a**. Seen them in 2007 in Houston on their first US tour, was a good time, great light show, amazing band together. Bad thing is they are no longer the original guys, just the lead man with two new guys, they still sound good, but much more produced, I loved the rawness of the original stuff much better.
Glad to hear a band that sound like bands from the 70s become popular today. I wish more through back rock bands were more popular. (2 great ones are Witchcraft and Graveyard)
gotta agree about the jack comment
Completely different band sound to The White Stripes, but I do agree...lead vocalist sounds so very much like Jack . Love 'em both.
yep on the Jack white comment.

Catchy tune. Not sure about the Zep & Sabbath comparisons. Stupid name, though. Should just call themselves Stockdale. I know, I know, it's a BAND... big deal.
Been 3 years since Cosmic Egg. I believe we are due a new album!
Awesome! i love that they named one of their song white unicorn!
I've lost count of the days. Wolfmother is amazing!
11 days on my Wolfmother channel. Can't (won't) stop it!
