Wolfmother

Truly a band out of time, the Australian power trio Wolfmother were conceived in 2000 -- about 30 years too late, considering that the musicians' psychedelic brand of proto-heavy metal sounded similar to the late-'60s/early-'70s craft of Blue Cheer and Black Sabbath. Comprised of vocalist/guitarist Andrew Stockdale, bassist/organist Chris Ross, and drummer Myles Heskett, Wolfmother took the initiative of recording a four-track demo in 2004 for the purpose of booking shows. So sterling were the results, however, that the band soon found itself re-recording the material for official release via the local label Modular Records. A second EP, Dimensions, appeared in 2006, and Wolfmother made the jump to the majors in early 2006, courtesy of an American distribution deal with Modular through Interscope Records. A self-titled album debut appeared in May and reached the Top 40, resulting in a trophy for Best Hard Rock Performance at the 2007 Grammy Awards. Co-founders Ross and Heskett left the group the following year, leaving Stockdale and new members Ian Peres (bass, keyboards), Aidan Nemeth (guitar), and Dave Atkins (drums) to carry the torch with 2009's Cosmic Egg. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia, Rovi

So I'm watching Hangover2 and I hear this awesome tune when they take the boat. Love Train .. WOW!! I guess I'm a little slow but I'm on board now.
I first heard the Joker & the Thief on an internet radio station back in 2006, I loved it & got their album, every song kicked a**. Seen them in 2007 in Houston on their first US tour, was a good time, great light show, amazing band together. Bad thing is they are no longer the original guys, just the lead man with two new guys, they still sound good, but much more produced, I loved the rawness of the original stuff much better.
Glad to hear a band that sound like bands from the 70s become popular today. I wish more through back rock bands were more popular. (2 great ones are Witchcraft and Graveyard)
gotta agree about the jack comment
Completely different band sound to The White Stripes, but I do agree...lead vocalist sounds so very much like Jack . Love 'em both.
yep on the Jack white comment.

Catchy tune. Not sure about the Zep & Sabbath comparisons. Stupid name, though. Should just call themselves Stockdale. I know, I know, it's a BAND... big deal.
Been 3 years since Cosmic Egg. I believe we are due a new album!
Awesome! i love that they named one of their song white unicorn!
I've lost count of the days. Wolfmother is amazing!
11 days on my Wolfmother channel. Can't (won't) stop it!

Easily the best band I have ever found. Granted, the band is about 30 years late for its style; but I love it.
sounds like a nice new discovery for me... reminds me a bit of C.O.C.
I love wolfmother especially the song the singer did with SLASH.
I guess Wolfmother is the only station on Pandora that I need. Haven't changed the channel for days. This is all I need.....wel l , almost.
iI just heard Joker and the Thief and the singer sounds just like Jack White. Even the band sounds like a more mature White Stripes. What is the story?
Dig this s__t!
My new favorite band, my the universe be rocked out by Wolfmother!

it sounds EXACTLY like black sabbath, and its kind of unoriginal
first time i heard woman on the radio i thought, wow i'm not sure who this is, but it sounds like the illegitimate child of rush and ufo...wow!!!
Prolly the biggest poser band to come out of the Land Down Under since Silverchair who is 100% sellout for profit organization . The Universe hates these guys.

I have recently become hooked on this band. I love listening to the self titled Wolfmother album.
Check out The Sword. Styles and vocal similar. Yes, Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin.... . . . . . . . . . . .
Vocals sound ALOT like The Sword. Nice varioation. Guitar spin-off are nicely reminescent of Jimmy Page dureing the Zep reign.

The truth was spoken by Quniton Laatz.
One of the only saving graces for Rock n' Roll in our generation.
I got over them when I saw them live. trying too hard to be the next led zeppelin or something, but not doing anything new or different for music. and stockdale is no jimmy page... he's got the stage tricks down but no actual chops
Refreshing.. . l i k e them a lot...but best EVER? won't go quite that far
