Winger

A former member of Alice Cooper's band, bassist Kip Winger formed his own group in 1986; in addition to vocalist/bassist Winger, the group featured guitarist Reb Beach, bassist Paul Taylor, and drummer Rod Morgenstein, formerly of the Dixie Dregs. Taking their name from their leader after a last-minute change from Sahara, Winger specialized in the stylish pop-metal that sent Bon Jovi and Poison to the top of the charts. The band's eponymous debut sold over a million copies on the strength of the rocker "Seventeen" and the ballad "Headed for a Heartbreak." Winger's second album, 1990's In the Heart of the Young, was equally successful, selling over a million copies and featuring the hit power ballad "Miles Away." However, the band didn't outlast the post-alternative pop-metal backlash and the group faded away after the release of their 1993 album Pull. Kip Winger launched a solo career later that decade, releasing three albums before reuniting with his former bandmates in 2002. After a brief tour alongside fellow pop-metal veterans Poison, the band returned to the studio to craft their first album in more than a decade. 2006's IV stuck close to the formula that made Winger famous, and the resulting reunion tour was captured on the two-disc set Winger Live. Another album called Karma quickly followed in 2009, but the group took its time to deliver Better Days Comin', which appeared in the spring of 2014. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, Rovi

Just might be my favorite band of all time. They were so much better than the typical hair bands of that era.

Top rank musicians with a great grasp of riffs AND song construction . They are a great middle ground between full out prog rock and 80's power rock. Want to see a great show? Catch Kip solo - just his voice and a 12-string acoustic. Amazing!
I read it... I love hairbands and always liked Winger.
I know this will never be read but what the hell, here goes. I am 60 years old and have watched music inhale and exhale and rock, real rock needs all the players to fit the spot they end up in.Winger filled a big place to me because the band was super tight, had total control of the pulse of the music and that pulse, is the heart beat of the greatest form of music on this planet. O.K. I'll shut up now .

underrated musicians - better then most of the bands from the 80's and 90's despite getting ragged on a ton for their look and Kip Winger's lyrics..
Beavis & Butthead were right. Winger was just another group of screaming hack losers from the 80's that sounded like most of the other hair permed poseurs of the MTV era.
I have been a fan of Winger for over twenty years. They were gracious enough to make the bus driver pull over so I could get their autographs back in the 80's after playing a concert in Fort Lauderdale, FL. They were at the height of their career yet they were humble enough to take the time for a fan. Unlike Bon Jovi. . . Kip's future wife was on the tour bus with him and they were a class act. Caught a recent tv interview and Kip still looks good. Nice guy. Very talented! God bless you.
Must say, im not a fan of Winger, but did see them @ '88 or so with Bulletboys and Cinderella Headlining. They put on a decent show, good band, just not too crazy about the music. The Summit in Houston!

I absolutely love Winger! There the band I went to after Van Halen got a little old for a while.
People think these guys suck because of Beavis and Butthead. They couldn't be more wrong.

Even the average Winger tunes are better than overrated Alice cooper

Remeber when i first seen this video on MTV. I wnet out shortly after and picked it up. Winger was a great band, just didn't get enough credit.
I saw them on tour with Bon Jovi in the 80's they were pretty good but Reb Beach was a beast!
Such a great sounding band! Such a shame they're not remembered by most. Perhaps I'm mistaken?

Saw them at the Stone Pony in Asbury Park. NJ, great show. Of course when they did "She's Only 17", they had to change the age, or it just would have been wrong in every way.
teamr530
The one kid from beavis and butthead wore a shirt of this band and he got laughed at
Just saw them in Boston and they kicked A**! They Rocked! Still a great band!

Brings me back, I am getting this album, very under rated band and all of the guys in the band are true talents, they need to come out to L.A.!

Good song!!
just saw cinderella with keyboards by the famous paul taylor in boloxi,ms sat. nite.got to met the band too . tx paul
Madalaine is still my favorite Winger song ever. Just wish we would have heard more songs like this one from them. They went too keyboard driven most of the time. had they kept this harder edge, they might have faired much better.
Another talented band & I love them!
The version of this CD is very different than the one I've had since 88. It's like they re-did the entire album....... ? and what's up with the picure? looks blurry.
Seen winger in the 80's and had not even heard of them until the show , they rocked the place and sounded great
