Formed in 2008 by former members of the popular goth metal/pop outfit Evanescence, We Are the Fallen (a name derived from Evanescence's 2003 album, Fallen) employed their predecessor's penchant for melodrama and brooding theatricality with a newfound emphasis on the band as a whole. Rocky Gray, John LeCompt, and Ben Moody -- the latter of whom left Evanescence in 2003 -- had experienced significant tensions within their group as it rose to international fame behind talented singer/pianist Amy Lee, so when the opportunity for a new project arose, they looked to former American Idol contestant Carly Smithson to provide the pipes. We Are the Fallen released their first single, "Bury Me Alive," on June 22, 2009, and the debut album Tear the World Down followed in May 2010. ~ James Christopher Monger, Rovi
as a super big fan of Evanescence and love! Amy lee. i think its awesome that i just discovered we are the fallen and its cool that even though they are the former band members of evanescence, that they can come up with their own unique sound and style although they've stuck very close to the Evanescence sound, but its still cool.
Fallen was one of the all-time best hard rock CDs. I can see why they wanted to get back to that sound. Amy Lee must have been a pain to work with since they all left.
Kagerou228, I still stand by WithinTemptation is better. Musically and vocally. Incredible -live. Amy live REALLY misses a lot. Epica- Great Vocals I've seen both- live. It's all good though!
this band = amazing! those that say they are horrible, you need to clean your ears out, or you have horrible taste in music! WT is not the same and should not be compared with Ev or WATF. I had never heard of Carly smithson before, she is very talented, and definitely adds to the band trying to sound like original EV before they went their separate ways!

Ken, Within Temptation is great. But Amy and even Carly are better singers. She's a good singer, but there are many better singers (Tarja, Epica's vocalist are better imho).
Nice to hear we are the fallen. They are a good band and Carly Smithson is a strong female rock singer. WATF is sixty percent of the original Evanescence so they are going to sound similar. It is sad that Amy couldn't get along with any of the original band to keep them together. She is a freaking awesome talent but the band lost so much when Ben left. WATF benefits from Ben's creativity but does not match what the collaboration of Ben and Amy had.

Sorry, this isn't working for me. The European bands in this genre do a better job.

While Ev was the original, I like WATF better...but mostly because I'm team Ben. Amy is not really a nice person, and she did Ben dirty. Both are very talented, but she was just not willing to work with anyone to create a united vision for Ev.
evanescence and we are the fallen are both very similar it doesnt matter they are both talented bands why cant we like both?? u should just listen and appreciate their music
I love Evanescence and We Are The Fallen. Though Evanescence would be my first pick of my favorite band. We Are The Fallen would come in second. I also do agree with @below.
Couldn't agree more, especially since Evanescence was the precursor to We Are the Fallen. Nonetheless, this band does fill the void with Evanescence being MIA.

evanscence is better

Of course they sound like Evanescence. The band members in this group *created* the Evanesence sound. Are they supposed to completely change their musical preferences because they left a band? Think people.
I think that they have definatly created a unique band, however it sounds a lot like evanescence it is a shame that they split apart and created another duplicate band
Honestly, I like these guys because they sound like Evanescence used to back in the Origins and Fallen days. Now that Amy is the only original member of Evanescence, she can take it in the direction she wants and Ben can have his project that sticks to their old sound. Hell, it is a win-win in my opinion.

These guys are worse than the other band with that girl singer. Sorry guy underneath me, but these guys should have given up on their dreams, we already have Skillet, Breaking Benjamin, Evans Blue...ugh! horrible! We don't need another sucky radio rock band.
I am intrigued by the will of people not to give up on their dreams. Even if there are endings to some, the strength to continue, to rebuild fascinates me. I think Lee is talented, no one can take that away. But Moody should not be discarded. Evanescence was their brainchild. What was Moody to do? Just give up and go somewhere and hide. Nah, he took the materials that he had around him, and rebuilt his dream. Now he has his own band, putting out good material. Lee does not have a copy ri
@emerald: I think to be Evanescence's arch enemy is their point. I mean, Ben Moody is the one who started this band.

Sounds/seems like Carly Smith is in some ways copying Amy Lee vocally. There are some (very)strong similarities, musically. Couldn't Ben Moody & co. come up w/some other original name for the band not associated w/Evanescence? What a stupid name!!
This band could be considered to be Evanescence's arch enemy.
