New Jersey-born blues-rocker Walter Trout spent decades as an ace sideman, playing guitar behind the likes of John Lee Hooker, Big Mama Thornton, and Joe Tex. In 1981, he was also tapped to replace the late Bob Hite in Canned Heat, remaining with the venerable group through the middle of the decade. While filling in one night for an ailing John Mayall, Trout (also a Bluesbreaker for some five years) was spotted by a Danish concert promoter who agreed to finance a solo tour. Assembling his own backing band, in 1990 he released his debut LP, Life in the Jungle, trailed a year later by Prisoner of a Dream. Albums including 1992's Live (No More Fish Jokes), 1994's Tellin' Stories, and 1997's Positively Beale Street followed. Trout continued a steady release schedule, issuing Livin' Every Day in 1999, a live album the following year (recorded at the Tampa Bay Blues Fest), the 2001 studio album Go the Distance, 2003's Relentless -- which Trout and his band, the Radicals, recorded in front of a live audience -- and 2005's Deep Trout, a compilation of early and unreleased recordings. On the 2006 release Full Circle, Trout realized his dream of creating an album with some of his most admired musicians, including John Mayall, Coco Montoya, and Joe Bonamassa, among others. ~ Jason Ankeny, Rovi

Used to live in S. California and have seen him many times at Perq's in dowtown Huntington Beach on Main and PCH. Incredible guitar player. First found out about him we were walking down there and just heard someone playing this incredible blues rock guitar from down the street and had to step in and see/hear.
I have seen almost everyone over the years but Walter Trout is the best .Walter Trout gives it all.INCREDIBLE show in Collingswood ,New Jersey. If you catch one live show or a thousand in your life make sure you see Walter Trout.

I moved away from there a long time ago, but thought that pier on Go The Distance looks familiar (HB Pier?)... oh yea, the music: All Killa', NO Filla'!!!
Used to play regularly at Perq's in Huntington Beach, CA - Saw Joe Bonamassa open for him, and it was one of those times that the opening act really outshined the headliner... I like Trout, but if you haven't see Joe live, GO!!

I first had the opportunity to see Walter Trout play with John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers along with Coco Montoya. Both Walter and Coco have simular styles. Walter is a very good performer and plays like it too....If you like Walter Trout, I suggest to Check out Coco Montoya too!!!!
i saw him last year, it was amazing, he is sooo good live, haha, and somebody was on a cell phone at the show and he took it from them and started talking to the person while still playing a solo, it was pretty crazy, god i wish teens my age (i am 16) would listen to blues instead of stupid emo metal music, what a shame :(

Ah, this is the guy I wanted to hear. He's the reason I created this station, but I've heard comparatively little of his music since I created it! I heard everyone else (including John Mayall ad nauseum), but little of Walter Trout.
