The singer is not Maureen Tucker!! It is in fact socialite and factory girl Edie Sedgewick. Beautiful. Rebellious against an upper class upbringing. Slumming it amongst junkies, artist types, trannys, homos, n**gers, whores, and of course Lou Reed and the VU. The song takes on a new sadness when you learn to appreciate that this lonely soul sang the song.
