There are NINE labs because they have so many capable student musicians! The One O'Clock is considered the best, with the Two O'Clock right behind them. Students re-audition every semester and are placed by faculty. And to get their CDs (of which there are many), check out their website: http://jazz.unt.edu/oneoclock/. They have done many CDs over the years - a new one just came out for 2012. You can also get Two O'Clock CDs as well. Cheers!

I don't know what Provost had in mind, but the actual URL is; http://music.unt.edu/store/catalog.
Is there any difference in genre-focus, or skill levels, or other differentiators between the One O'Clock and Two O'Clock units at NTU? Are there two labs because they have so many capable student/musicians, or what?

There's a new One O'Clock Lab Band and CD every year - Lab 2011 was just released. Check out their website at jazz.unt.edu/oneoclock
These bands are even better than their reputations! Nothing amateur about them, and while they have roots in Kenton, they also draw on a very wide range of the spectrum of modern writing for jazz bands. Also, they play the hell out of the charts, equalling just about any pro big band out there, and better than many. More, please
I had not heard of this group before, but listening to Pandora just now, they offered a tune to me....and I found that I enjoyed the arrangement and the soloists! I have gotta find MORE. Thanks!

I am NOT at all associated with UNT but have long wished I was good enough to play in their bands. They do have cds for purchase - just not on itunes or other services. Go to http://www.jazz.unt.edu/?q=node/303 to see a long list of possible disks to purchase.

What I can't understand is the fact you can play these artists and yet how come it is so difficult to purcgase a cd such as the tune of the University Of North Texas One o'Clock Lab Band that is performing at this instance. Can you give me an explanation ?
