umm...U2 is a band...bands do concerts....it's their job. they also sell records, incidentally. besides, is it their fault if their message isn't sinking in? Senseless fighting still occurs all the time. maybe they have to repeat it a couple of times.
On a compositional note, anybody else notice that this particular version seems to emphasize the strings and other production touches more than other versions out there? Maybe it's just me... Great of them to feature this song on 'It Might Get Loud', but lyrics like 'how long must we sing this song' sound less genuine, less desperate and more commercial with every concert series U2 does.

Wow...just a reminder that songs like these used to make me think that senseless fighting would end w/my generation -- how naive! What happened? Guess not all of us were listening.
In the Rattle and Hum DVD, I remember that Bono talked about the revolution back in Ireland, before playing this song. I'll never forget the passion he had, how he saw all the injustice with his people. It made me look at this song differently. The theme of "Sunday Bloody Sunday" still reigns true today
I hated U2 as a kid because of this song(I was a headbanger in the early '80's). As I aged it became one of my favorite songs by my favorite band. U2 has been through the thick and thin, the Irish spirit will never fade...
really wow no s**t
They brits massacred people during a peaceful irish parade protesting british rule. The f**king soldiers recieved medals that for their actions on that day.
