cmon guys, Elinore Roosevelt??? I'd rather sing about Tuesday Weld, or Mary Ann Mobley (before she married David Hartman)...or at least that Russian wieght-lifter, Olga da'Brute...
When I was a freshman in high school, there was a senior named Ellen that I really liked. Once, we were talking about music. I said I liked the Turtles. She asked me what songs they did. Gee, Ellen, I think you're swell.
Okay, that is a really, really awesome story. Thank you for sharing the link. :D I like this song even more now.

I've heard that this was composed somewhat tongue-in-ch e e k , because the record company wanted a hit like "Happy Together", so they just tossed this one off. Which only adds to what a great pop song it is, in my opinion. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elenore
This really sounds like it's tongue-in-cheek or something - maybe it's the use of "et cetera" combined with the minor key - but either way, it kind of cracks me up. I had no idea they did anything but Happy Together (which I love) but they're clearly talented and a lot of fun.
