For rock guitar fans looking for instrumental jams à la such '80s shredders as Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, and Eric Johnson, the Travis Larson Band has made sure the genre is still living and breathing in the new millennium. The group consists of guitarist Travis Larson, bassist Jennifer Young, and drummer Dale Moon, but has been known to include extra players from time to time (strings, keys, and added percussion). The trio has shared the stage with such accomplished instrumentalists as Gary Hoey, Adrian Legg, former Band of Gypsies drummer Buddy Miles, Bill Bruford's Earthworks, and King Crimson's Trey Gunn. As evidenced by such albums as 2000's self-titled debut and 2001's Suspension (where Victor Wooten had a guest appearance), the trio specializes in well-constructed, melodic rock compositions. Vinx guested on 2004's Burn Season while 2006 saw the release of Rate of Change and the Rock Show DVD. In 2009, they followed that up with a CD and DVD release of Rate of Change Live. Soundmind appeared in 2011. ~ Greg Prato, Rovi
I found TLB via a CD related site while searching for Steve Morse influenced music. Travis Larson is a good player and can shred well but I find his compositional skill to be quite good too. Personally I don't find Vai or Satriani very interesting musically.
This guy looks like an amiable lion when he's playin' with all that hair. Take it or leave it.

I've been reading a lot of comments of this being Satriani influenced, but I am a huge Steve Morse fan and this is without a doubt Morse influenced. Good song and am going to listen to more of their music as I'm looking forward to it.
Great album! Also love this new version of Pandora that lets you suspend play on the song you're listening to and then sample all the tracks of the whole album. I'm going to buy this album!
I have seen these guys live several times and they always put on a great show -- they come down off the stage and mingle with the little people. I own all of their albums -- best money I have ever spent!

Wow, "Winter Still" is just such a pretty song. What a great groove. It's nice to see that great guitarists don't always have to shred a hundred miles an hour to make great music.
I saw them live a number of times at The Baked Potato in L.A. around 2002? Great band, nice people. I think Dale was a Sacremento Kings fan and I being a Lakers fan had some good shots at eachother.
