Formed in Los Angeles in 1990, thrash metallists Tourniquet is a trio, featuring members Luke Easter (vocals), Aaron Guerra (guitar, vocals), and Ted Kirkpatrick (drums), the latter who also doubles as the group's main songwriter. It doesn't take long after hearing the group's music to find out their chief musical influence is Iron Maiden -- especially evident in the galloping rhythms and challenging song structures (as well as thought-provoking lyrics). But the trio is not your average metal band, as they've been known to deconstruct their tunes and play "unplugged" shows, while receiving favorable press from such publications as Modern Drummer, Guitar for the Practicing Musician, and Guitar Player. Tourniquet has issued six releases: 1990's Stop the Bleeding, 1992's Psycho Surgery, 1994's Pathogenic Ocular Dissonance, 1995's Vanishing Lessons, 1997's Crawl to China, and 2000's Microscopic View of Telescopic Realm. ~ Greg Prato, Rovi
The older stuff is definitely better. I actually met Ted Kirkpatrick's mom during their concert on the main stage at Cornerstone. She was out in the audience dressed very conservative like you would expect for her age. She really stuck out like a sore thumb. But she was there enjoying the music and commented how proud she was of her son. That was cool.
I grew up listening to these guys. The collective works is the best sampler of what they can do. I would put them as a hybrid Metallica, Iron Maiden, Megadeth band. Would love to hear more from them.
Why are the best albums, stop the bleeding, psycosurgery, and pathogenic occular dissonance not on there? Why crawl to china? They also need to add their newest addition, antiseptic bloodbath!
I agree with below comments. Even though I still listen to it sometimes, CRAWL TO CHINA is their worst album. Have you forgotten the ultra-technical PATHOGENIC OCULAR DISSONANCE. Another awesome album, which featured Guy Ritter's vocals. I like Luke Easter, but he doesn't compare to Guy.
where is Stop The bleeding?!?! and for the love of all things holy... why would you EVER PUT CRAWL TO CHINA ON THERE?!?!?!?!?! Boom, i just killed myself

Pandora is missing the 2 best albums by these guys. For some reason my station will only play stuff from Vanishing Lessons, probably their worst album. Haven't really paid much attention to these guys since Guy Ritter left the band, the newer guy is like a cheese grater to my ears.
To get a true understanding of the depth of this band you might want to check out their album The Collective Works of Tourniquet...... and @ stantonb9 Pathogenic Ocular Dissonance is a term they used to describe spiritual color blindness. I believe it means color blind though.
What the frig?!? Iron Maiden?!? More like Metallica. And it started out as a 5 piece on the CD Stop The Bleeding. They stayed a 5 piece on Psychosurgery and Pathogenic Ocular Dissonance. Dropped down to four on Vanishing Lessons and Crawl to China. They became a three piece for Microscopic. How about Pandora does better research on bands before putting up a bio? That way, true fans of the group don't have to correct them.
Fans of earlier Tourniquet. . if you haven't already, previous members went on to form their own band, Echo Hollow. Doesn't really sound like Tourniquet, much, but it's something to think about next time you're prowling Rhapsody or iTunes or whichever. . .
Believer, Deliverance, Vengeace, Tourniquet, Living Sacrifice. . I mean when mainstream turned to grunge and all that Christian metal stayed metal for a bit longer and . . it was good.
I have to agree, we need to see those first 3 albums. I loved Pathogenic Occular Dissonance. May favorite song though has to be their heavy metal homage to tornados from Psycho Surgery. (I cannot remember the name since it is in spanish)
I love these guys because there very technical and there a extremely smart band. for example an album of theirs Pathogenic Ocular Dissonance.I don't have Ioda that lives down the street from a clue what that means.
I hope I hear songs from their 1st 3 albums! Those are their best. Thanks for adding this artist. They were my favorite band from the 90's until a few years ago when As I Lay Dying & August Red came along! WOW, that's 15 years I never grew tired of those 1st 3 albums.
Pandora rocks. I have it on every day and never hear a repeat on the same day.
i love this stuff. They really broke ground for the modern extreme christian music. along with bands like Stryper and Bride. YOu gotta know your roots!
yeahman. There's a need for the older stuff. It's hard to beat Gary Lenaire, Guy Ritter, Victor Macias, and Erik Mendez. Guy, Gary, Ted, Victor and Erik were the bestest. Love.
your right { where are the earlier stuff } - they are a christain metal band! thier first band line up was a five piece - Ted is an excellent drummer - Iron Maiden? They are more like Mettalica with a christain message -
