Tomatito

One of the best guitarists associated with the nuevo flamenco generation, Tomatito (born José Fernández Torres in Almería, Spain in 1958) grew up in a family of prestigious flamenco lineage, and at only 12 he had managed to impress none other than Paco de Lucía. Still in his teens, Tomatito began to accompany famous cantaores, such as Enrique Morente and La Susi, but he attained definitive flamenco stardom as the great El Camarón de la Isla's guitarist of choice. Tomatito became Camarón's inseparable sidekick during the late singer's last 18 years of life, and took part in legendary tours and recordings such as La Leyenda del Tiempo. Tomatito also developed a solo career, dazzling audiences at festivals in Spain and abroad, playing at some of the world's most renowned venues, and winning countless accolades, as well as composing music for films and orchestra and collaborating on various projects by other artists. By 2013 he had released seven solo albums and one anthology. ~ Mariano Prunes, Rovi

Now that the maestro has passed it's up to artists like Tomatito to take up the mantle. He has some huge shoes to fill but I think he's more than up to the task.
Considered by some to be the best Flamenco guitarist. He's definitely among the best imho. Anybody who worked with Paco De Lucia and Camaron De La Isla has my respect. Looking forward to seeing him in his San Francisco, CA debut later this year in March.
lets not be negative,
music is good to move forward and of course always a time and place for flamenco in its purest form. when introducing someone to flameco I like to start with world fusion or whatever,, and get more rootsy as the persons tounge(ear) matures... ciao.

much closer to true flamenco - but accessible to the general public.

He is much more than an "up an coming performer". He is a legend in Spain where it counts.

Tomatito play a few years with "Camaron de la Isla" this partnership led to many great recordings. This is probably the most important partnership of "El Tomatito"
Amazing
