You've got that right 'bob'. Just saw him here in Mansfield, MA ..(aka Boston) .. what a show, song, crowd, time... this man and his heartbreakers have it all ...still. Even I was singing and I can't carry a tune in a bucket.
I'd have to vote Tom Petty number one for American songwriters over the past 20 years. I love his entire catalog. He just keeps getting better.

One of my favorite Petty songs of all time. True lyrical genius.
I like the sound of this one. No surprise if it's about drugs if that's true. I lot of songs during that era were. In fact, artists were often on drugs when they came up with their best material. Go figure.
