All of his songs are great I have every song that has ever made he is my all time favorite I have loved to the music for over 10 years I am 1 of the biggest Tom Petty Fan
What I always liked about this song, you know its around 77-78 and Punk Rock also was beginning and the influences of early rock were having an effect on how the rockers like Tom were writing music then. Even dance music as well as disco were offshots of the rock sock hop sounds from decades gone by. I guess what I'm saying is everytime a new sound comes along, you can always dig and find the earlier influences, which is a big part of the makeup of the Music family tree. It's all related some
REFUGEE is a particular favorite of mine too capecodtaco but it comes from a totally different lifetime than this song. There are so many sides to TP, it would be hard for me to name his best song. I can't even decide on his best period.
this american girl is all growd up. even as i pause to ponder the promised, still full of hope and searching for and still love to, die trying to find. ah, to die in a tom petty song..
Tom Petty rocks! His 4-hour documentary special that came out a few years ago is awesome. I recorded it and watch it all the time. Gives you all the history of how he got started.

35 years later and this is still a damn good song. This is one of the best bands of all time and Tom is still current, still writing great songs and still performing awesome shows. Hopefully he will be at the Columbia Gorge at George again this year. One amazing place to see a great show and performer.
lolo.poop
best song everrr!!!!!!
reminds me of summerrrrrr <3
This is a great song! I was in high school in Florida, not far from where Tom Petty came from in Gainsville, when this song hit the radio. It still rocks today as much as it did back then. "She couldn't help thinking there was a little more to life, somewhere else ..."
One of my all time favorite Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers songs. I don't know if any one remembers this bit but it was featured in the 'Silence of the Lambs' movie. This is where I first heard the song and my memory goes to when I hear it now. Nice beat...
