Threat Signal

A relatively melodic metalcore act with some death and thrash influences, Hamilton, Ontario's Threat Signal sit comfortably next to contemporaries like Fear Factory and Lamb of God. Threat Signal were formed in 2003 by singer Jon Howard and his cousin, lead guitarist Rich Howard, filled out with rhythm guitarist Kyle McKnight, bassist Marco Bressette, and drummer Adam Matthews. After achieving some early notoriety in the international online metal community, with four of their demo tracks achieving heavy airplay on various websites, Threat Signal released the Rational Eyes EP through the digital-oriented label Gomek Records in 2005. Although Threat Signal signed with the respected metal indie Nuclear Blast Records and recorded their first album with Fear Factory guitarist Christian Olde Wolbers later that same year, a period of personnel instability delayed its release for nearly a year. Drummer Adam Matthews was the first to leave, replaced by George Parfitt. Then founding guitarist Rich Howard split, with Bressette taking over lead guitar duties while Pat Kavanagh was drafted into the bass slot. Following the delayed release of debut album Under Reprisal and an extensive tour, Bressette left Threat Signal suddenly in March 2007; in an interview with Canadian music website Chartattack, Howard and Parfitt claimed he resigned via a two-line e-mail. Undaunted, Threat Signal began demoing material for their second album while auditioning new guitarists. ~ Stewart Mason, Rovi

Has anyone seen them live with mutiny within?
Great Canadian metal group, although as it has been said already, I couldn't agree more with the statement regarding their down fall after Under Reprisal!

First hearing... F'n Awesome! A refreshing original sound! I'm surprised I hadn't heard them b4 this, but I'm pumped that I heard them now!
And I really like the classic metal vibe that the vocalists's singing voice has. Makes an already good band even better, in my opinion.
Wow... This band deserves a bigger following than what it has.
rock TS, mutiny within is is good also

How is his voice so beautiful & so terrible at the same time? Regardless I love them :D
The most rock & metal stations on Pandora Radio!

Why do I agree with this????
the vocalist reminds me of Linkin Park's vocalist
I really dig these guys wish they would put out a new album!
Under reprisal is still their best album! They seem to be going down hill since. Jmo

I discovered this band on YouTube and was blown away. The combination of great vocal range, guitar work that is fantastic, and drums that are mind blowing I think makes this band a lot better then most of their contemporari e s . I hope they can keep it together because you just don't see this or hear this type of talent very often.
Threat Signal is Canadian, not Swedish
Though they are good. I never felt like they brought anything new to the table that all the bands I listened to before them didn't.
these guys are brutal...Jon Howard's voice is sick-I hope it is as good live as on the albums...ple a s e don't stop making songs you guys motivate me
Saw them on the Children of Bodom tour too. MUCH better than Revocation, the other opening act!
saw these guys with children of bodem they f**king killed it they were so f**king badass

I love Swedish bands, they tend 2 leave more melodies, w/ keyboards, techno, etc. another band we should look up is Asking Alexandria, they are very cool.
Very glad I came across this band. I'd disagree with the review as they sound much more influenced by Swedish bands (Well, they are Swedish.) like Meshuggah (Except much more melodic.)and In Flames. I can see the Unearth comparison as well but the Lamb of God and Fear Factory comparisons are weak at best because they don't sound as American as bands like Killswitch, All That Remains...et c .

This singer kicks so much a**.
I was digging "Rational Eyes" until the emo vocals kicked in. bleh. I couldn't help but imagine Attack Attack running in place during that part of the song. Decent song otherwise.
This is sick. Do they ever tour? Why has no one heard of them?
Great great great music!
Clint Given....YES ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

"sit comfortably next to contemporari e s lamb of god and fear factory."

^^ Not sure about that. Next to? Contemporari e s ? Releasing an album in 06 = contemporari e s of LoG? and Fear Factory (no longer together)... ?

W/e-- I still like these guys though. I just don't like the reviews here. "All Music Guide;" what a joke.

f**king badass
yay
The drumming reminds me of Tomas Haake of Meshuggah. Me likey.

sounds good...
AWESOME xD
I picked this CD up one day for the hell of it. I was really surprised to hear how incredible it was. very tight and a great heavy metal sound along with powerful vocals.
