Comprised of multi-instrumentalists Dhani Harrison (son of late BeatleGeorge Harrison) and Oliver Hecks, London-based duo thenewno2 (pronounced "the new number two") successfully blend the late-period experimental pop of the Fab Four with the ambient electronics of Brian Eno and the layered beats of Massive Attack. Formed in 2006, the band released its debut EP, EP001 (featuring vocalist Amanda Butterworth), the following year. A full-length debut, You Are Here, arrived in 2008, followed by 2011's EP002 and another full-length, 2012's Thefearofmissingout, the latter of which found the group expanding into a sextet. ~ James Christopher Monger, Rovi
if ur a real newno2 fan u would already know that dhani didnt wanna make a big deal about his dad's fame. cuz he's actually got talent- he's not piggybacking off of george's fame (though the talent's in his genes) i love oli too! :D
Harrison and Hecks chose the name Thenewno2 (pronounced "the new number two"), because they wanted a "faceless entity" that they could use to make music with, which would give them a chance to legitimatize without the help of Dhani Harrison's famous last name. They took the name "Thenewno2" from the British cult classic television series The Prisoner, liking the idea of an anonymous person which you know nothing about.--Wikipedia
wha-at?! only one comment?! i love this band, and yes i love dhani, but get beyond the fact that hes georges son? watever, CHOOSE WHAT YOUR WATCHING!!!! :)
