Temple Of The Dog

Temple of the Dog was a one-album project conceived in 1990. The purpose of Temple of the Dog was to pay tribute to the late Andrew Wood, the lead singer of Mother Love Bone, who died of a heroin overdose in 1990. Following his death, Mother Love Bone broke up, but Wood's bandmates Jeff Ament (bass) and Stone Gossard (guitar) decided to continue working together. Before Ament and Gossard formed a new band, they assembled Temple of the Dog, recruiting Chris Cornell (vocals) and Matt Cameron (drums) from Soundgarden to form the core of the group. Temple of the Dog also featured contributions from then-unknown vocalist Eddie Vedder and guitarist Mike McCready.

Temple of the Dog recorded their eponymous album in 1990, releasing it at the end of the year on A&M Records. The album received positive reviews upon its release, but didn't chart until the summer of 1992, when Pearl Jam -- a band Ament, Gossard, Vedder, McCready, and drummer Dave Krusen formed in late 1990 after the completion of the Temple of the Dog album -- had a Top Ten album with their debut record, Ten. Following the success of Ten, A&M re-released "Hunger Strike" -- a duet between Vedder and Cornell -- as a video and single, and the album quickly scaled the charts, reaching the Top Ten and going platinum before the end of 1992. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, Rovi

Only one of group I'm aware of that had that addiction was Cornell...an d he's been winning that battle for a long time now. Cobain, Staley and Woods all struggled with it and I'm sure other issues and lost...but they were just people who tried to cope in a poor way hand in hand with music....tha t doesn't detract for their music or who the guys were. Is it no different then what Hendrix, Morrison, Elvis, KWS, or any number of others with every drug from alcohol to coke or qualuides, all the Damn
No doubt a perfect chemistry of talent..
Absolutely one of the best records that came out of Seattle.
it's a sad fact tht many of these grea artist on th Seattle scene were saddled with drug addiction.. there but for the grace of God... Those who stand in judgement would do well to take the beam out of their own eye before stooping to childish name-calling of these wonderful,be a u t i f u l , souls who, like all of us were flawed, imper f e c t human beings.

this song is so sexy and i think of someone everytime i hear it very powerful and moving and turns me on id love a guy to fit this song for me
These guys are bad a**
Except these "morons" had a great impact on society and my generation. Music is life and they made their mark. I don't judge other people and you shouldn't either. Heroin is bad but the people aren't bad just because of bad decisions.
One of the best albums of all time LONG LIVE TEMPLE OF THE DOG R.I.P. Andy Wood

Simply the best album of 1990
I've gone down this rabbit hole of reading about all these related bands... Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, STP, Nirvana, etc. Jesus, once again I have to recalibrate what I think about the human race and lower the bar some more. One f**king idiot after another killing themselves with drugs. And then they get treated like a god. Good music, but I just can't read any more stories about these morons.
What does this song have to do with Andy?
wierd to be so late in thecomment of how intense an artist can be. just checkin out MLB....we are all entitled but not equally talented. today is the anniversary of Andy's death and im waiting for my grandchild to be born any min now. Life is strange, keep sharing, thank you Chris, Jeff , Stone, Eddie .....love is all we need.
RIP Andy you were enigmatic and brilliant! The music world owes you a debt of gratitude.
Say hello to heaven my friend. You will never be forgotten.
This song channels Mother Loves Bone so well! Perfect. Liturgical.
Also to note -- it was Cornell who invited the future Pearl Jam crew to take part in the album as a tribute to his friend (not the other way around).
I can't believe this album is almost nearly 25 years old.
f***king Catalina wine mixer
F**k yes! 2 of my favorite!!!
Classic....I ' m Going Hungry...... . . .
I bought this album recently, and I was blown away. Not just "Hunger Strike," but every song on Temple of the Dog is a gem. Get it, people.

Best of both world's!
Album is amazing, I am a huge soundgarden fan but this is truly the best that Cornell has done. What's also not in bio is they recorded this whole album in just ten days. Most albums take six to ten months to record. A testament to their passion.
What a Great Fuking Song!
Sweet sweet sound
LOVE!!!! <3
