Talkdemonic are an experimental indie rock duo begun in December 2002 as an outlet for multi-instrumentalist Kevin O'Connor to satisfy his fixation with instrumental hip-hop and electronic music. Fitting in amidst the budding "folktronic hop" scene, the other half to O'Connor -- who plays drums, guitar, synths, bass, programming beats, and much more -- is Lisa Molinaro on viola and synths. Their first album, Mutinysunshine, was recorded over the course of a year and issued by Portland's Lucky Madison in April 2004. Subsequent shows were played across the United States with Modernstate, hooking up with the Joggers and Menomena mid-summer. A West Coast tour followed the next June. Talkdemonic appeared at the CMJ Musicfest in the fall of 2005, and spent time on the road through early 2006 with Clap Your Hands Say Yeah and the National. Their follow-up, Beat Romantic, appeared in March on Arena Rock. The duo moved in a more organic direction for 2008's Eyes at Half Mast, then spent a considerable amount of time touring in support of the album. They returned to the studio in 2010, and continued work on their fourth album into the following year along with touring with Modest Mouse in summer 2011. Around that time, Talkdemonic signed to Glacial Pace Records, which released Ruins that October. ~ Corey Apar, Rovi

Just saw them myself - honestly could not believe they'd only just added those two members, as they blended so well onstage. The banjo! The banjo was great. Can't wait for them to make an album with those extra sounds added.
Saw them last night - it was their 4th show as 4 piece band added a bassist and keyboard/banjo dude- They are amazing, and looks like they have so much fun with their musical creations- I certainly had fun listening
Kevin O'Connor is a really awesome guy. He used to be my substitute teacher in high school, when I lived in the Portland/Vancouver area. They do pull it off live using computers and such, and they are soooo awesome. Glad to hear they're doing well and have such a modest following. I remember he had his laptop in class and burned demos for me and some friends back in like, 2003-2004. DAMN it's been a while. Miss these guys. They actually just showed up on a separate play list I had. (Mum. Check e
Yo skaterzooyork, I went to their show in Denver and I asked the girl, Lisa, the same question. She said something like, "I dunno, Kevin came up with it. It's because he plans on morphing us into a metal band eventually." I LOL'd and said good luck, because I've never heard a metal band with a viola :)
bands like this are under appreciated and it is good to see that there are people out there who have good taste in music. these guys are the freakin shiz nit!
