Led by keyboardist Trammell Starks in tandem with conductor, producer and arranger Charles Sayre, the Taliesin Orchestra rose to success with a series of symphonic albums reprising the work of some of New Age music's most popular artists. Their debut Orinoco Flow: The Music of Enya appeared in 1996, followed a year later by Forbidden Forest: The Music of George Winston. 1997 also saw the release of Anthem, a break from Taliesin Orchestra tradition with its focus on re-interpreting classic rock hits. The music of Enya, however, was again the subject for 1998's Maiden of Mysteries and provided a "best of" disc for the group in 2002. Meanwhile, the Taliesin Orchestra was rather quiet in the following years, reappearing in 2002 with their gospel collection Sacred. ~ Jason Ankeny, Rovi

@cjloor - there is an orchestra who toured, playing Final Fantasy music about 7 or so years ago. I saw them in Chicago. i dont know if this is the same orchestra or not but they could definitely perform the music as they sound similar to me!

Because I like to share random information, the name "Taliesin" is properly pronounced "tal-YES-in".
Now you know and knowing is half the battle.

I've listened to Enya for a long time which seems to be a focus of this group w/ all the covers they've done. But I would like to see more original music since they have a style I like

I've owned this album for quite some time. It's very relaxing.
Tailesin, although full of "covers" (if one can call orchestral music that) manages a smooth, pleasant sound...beyond New Age. Would like to hear Sacred, but am scared...oh my, anyway good modern orchestral music. (sorry)
Taliesin is the name of the mythological Welsh bard, famous for his songs and rhyme as an infant. Does anyone know the significance of this group choosing that name for their orchestra?
