Was reading the history of SADE and had to listen in to Sweetback because when I witnessed the wonder of SADE in 3 concerts over the years was also the sweet sweet sounds of her musicians. I appreciated the way SADE does not HOG the stage but allows the musicians to shine. This MADE the group. This KEEPS SADE and her musicians relevant. This impressed me then and impresses me now with her 2011 tour. Sweetback, one of the first of her musicians, is thoroughly AWESOME.
I love how they use diffrerent artist for their vocals and always have..I've been listening to Sweetback for years..they are masters of their craft&will never go out of style.
VERY COOL & SEXY MUSIC FROM A TIGHT BAND, HAD THIS CD SINCE 1996 & WHEN I PLAY IT NOW PEOPLE ARE LIKE....THIS IS SADE'S BAND???? YET & STILL IN 2010 BOTH CD'S WERE BANGERS WITH NO REAL AIRPLAY (DAMN WHEN ARE WE GONNA HERE SOME GOOD MUSIC LIKE THIS AGAIN???)
You know this is good music because 14 years later I STILL have it in rotation. I have had to dub this CD many times over because it gets scratched or comes up missing. When I play Softly, Softly people are like "who is that" and "where can I get it"

Please please give me more, I'm begging:)
Much respect to Stuart Mattheman, Paul Denman & Andrew Hale for bringing real music back to those who truly appreciate its roots and pushing the envelope on combining old school soul with layered textures of jazz, neo-soul, vibes, grooves and melodic tones. Fellas, keep doing what you do, you got a fan for life. Can't wait for the third album!
"Hope She'll Be Happier" - vocals by Leroy Osbourne - is one of my favorite songs of all time. Sad but beautiful at the same time. It's a Still Bill Withers composition - I hear he sings it live on the Soul Power Zaire '74 documentary and tears it up.

not so bad but need sade....or dont use vocals at all
Their first cd featured Amiel Larrieux on "You Will Rise" along with Maxwell on "Softly, Softly"Their second cd featured Aya, I highly recommend her. It also featured Ladybug from Digable MC's on "Love is the Word" Great group. I like how they are experimentin g with their sound and branching out. Their music is both relaxing and engaging.
