Formed together by two college students from the University of Vermont, Reid Genauer (vocals/ guitar) and Jon Trafton (guitar) spent the first year together under the name Stranefolk while performing in pubs and coffee houses all throughout campus. Armed with only their acoustic guitars and distortion pedals, Genauer and Trafton eventually recruited Erik Glockler on bass and Luke Smith on drums, fulfilling the line-up as a four piece. With their own style of merging bluegrass, folk, rock and blues, Strangefolk had the chance to document this in the studio and eventually self-releasing their self-titled first album in 1994, followed by "Lore" the next year. After a hefty touring schedule across the United States in support of these two albums, Flat Earth Records took notice and put out "Weightless in Water" in 1998. ~ Mike DaRonco, Rovi
VERY fond memories of this group of talented men over the course of their careers- especially in their early years... Their energy was always amazing and infectious.
Just so you all know... Strangefolk, all original members including Reid, is playing a rare performance Friday 3/11/11 at Nectars in Burlington, VT!!! I have a ticket and it's going to be awesome!!!

I really like Strangefolk and yeah, it really sucked when Reid left but I still fukin love'em. Very diferent with Patchen, but I still f**kin love 'em and all the new stuff. Why sulk and stay stuck in the past forever? That's too depressing. Move on and enjoy the day for what it brings.
i really miss Ried, they are most definately not the same and nowhere near as good since he left! Does nayone have their first album (self titled) i have been looking for it for a while. please send me a msg if u do. will gladly pay
