To try and settle the dispute about this and pride and joy, according to the biography of srv they were pressed for time recording the first record and one more song was needed so they took the rhythm track from pride and joy and embellished a bit with some guitar licks and different lyrics so cryin is in fact pride and joy slightly modified. Hope that helps everyone.
Love SRV's music. Have not heard this song version before....Same song as Pride and Joy per guitar note . Same intro, chorus, solo and outro. Just differnt lyrics..They both sound good, but Pride and Joy is more upbeat with the lyrics.
Now Pandora LEARN here; this song IS SIMILAR to Pride and Joy.
It amazes me how many times you categorize songs as "similar" when they have nothing to do with each other.

It is the same as Pride and Joy, with different words. The music varies only slightly. P & J got all the airplay though. Maybe that's why he put new lyrics to it, to get on radio. Good song nevertheless.

I CANNOT BEGIN TO TELL EVERYBODY OUT THERE WHO ENJOYS LISTENING TO STEVIE RAY VAUGHN AS MUCH AS I DO--JUST HOW INCREDIBLE IT WAS TO WATCH HIM PLAY IN THE BARS IN AND AROUND THE AUSTIN, TX. AREA IN THE MID-SEVENTIES. I ALWAYS KNEW THAT THE WHOLE WORLD WOULD SOMEDAY GET TO ENJOY HIS MUSIC ALSO!! AND THIS SONG WAS ALWAYS A PART OF HIS REPETOIRE!!!

Stevie Ray was fabulous. Another fantastic musician's life cut short depriving the world of more to come.
It's actually not like Pride and Joy, some parts are similar but most blues musicians tend to have a lot of songs that sound similar because of their style. If you play guitar, you'll notice that Pride and Joy does sound really similar but it's not all that close.

I guess there is a finite number of blues riffs; you just put new words to them. :-)
