I appreciate the sentiment and enjoy both versions. A sign of a great song is how it holds up to translation by othert band. Solid cover. Take both for what they are worth. Great music. Give me this cover over many new songs of the day. Peace.
Rush's version is great ,and this version is great. Thats it.

Why so many comments about how long this song is? The original was a long-a** song! My favorite Rush tune. Love all the time changes. No average Joe band is gonna pull this one off. Morse and friends nail it.
Great cover of a great song. The band covering this includes Mike Portnoy, Billy Sheehan and Steve Morse...how can you go wrong with those three driving this bus?! Three killer musicians, paying tribute to a band worthy of it...who cares who thinks which version is better? Each version brings something fun and interesting to the table. Just appreciate it!!
Love Morse. Love this song. But, damnit, that first lead just can't compare to the original. Alex uses just the right amount of notes and phrasing to build the perfect amount of tension. Morse does a great job but, right from the start with the volume swells, he simply overplays. The second lead is better though.
James Labrie did Red Barchetta on his solo album but his voice just doesn't compare to Geddys I don't think it does it justice. But good none the less.
As covers go...this is amazing. I thought I was listening to Rush until I checked out the information on the artist. He is obviously an amazing guitar player.
What a compliment to Rush. In covering someone else's song, it's important to add/change some inflection, interpretation, style. Just don't allow a Reggae version. Wow, pretty nice cover of Geddy's pieces, too.

the rush version is better but im a huge rush fan and a guitar player TECHNICAL GUITAR PLAYERS FTW!!!! (hence alex lifeson) alex's sound is better, its a little more (well alot more) treably, and i like that.

Ok, so it's not Rush. Jeez... Listen close and try to see under the surface, absorb the arrangement. I think you'll find it has a lot of merit, all on it's own. This is a very tight band; an amazing effort.

One of my favorite Rush songs (kinda hard to pick ONE favorite). I like the tribute/cover, it is very well done. However, it seems to have lost the 'feeling' that Alex had when he played it. I've seen Rush play it live 3 times and it just seemed to have more emotion to it.

@Dr.Remulak Thats because he got ALD. He lost his balls and stopped soloing/chop s , changed his clothing/att i t u d e to the ones of an eunuch...man
I have seen them both live and steve has played with some of the best but I think alex is the most underated guitar player of all time,he has that complete wall of sound that is hard to find.Love this tribute and the longer the better.........

No bigger Rush fan here, but a very worthy rendition. :)
This is indeed very cool, but its impossible to top the creative vision of everyone's favorite prog rock trio. I seriously doubt anyone could ever play one of Rush's songs better than themselves. But I don't think that was the point here anyway. Its a testament to Morse's versatility

Nice "cover" of Rush... but it will never be better than the original.

Nothing wrong with it being long.
