Seldom, if ever, have I been blown away by a band this much. I can second all the superlatives below. The hiatus tour is bittersweet, these are family guys and I'm happy for them. A hiatus tour live release would be worthy of an Americana grammy nomination. Then reunion!
just recently heard on Facebook te SK6ers will be on a hiatus after 2012....SAD SAD news. Farewell tour is starting next month I think. Grab your tix early...
Perfectly said, Karyn...I too somewhat dread SK6ers getting truly discovered...when it does happen, I just hope the guys remember their long-time fans and charter members of Sixertown, the band's incredible fan club which allows member to attend 2-song mini accoustic shows before each concert. Who else does this and appreciates their fans so much?
Part of me wants everyone to realize how wonderful they are because they deserve it, the other part of me hopes nobody ever finds out the music world's best kept secret because I love being able to pay $20 to see them and easily stand in the front row as long as I get there a little early!
PART II: Dang these character limits! Just don't have enough space to spread the word about this amazing group. Every album (including older material not heard on Pandora) is pure, honest, and brilliantly written and played...but with each new release, you can see how these guys, and Stephen in particular, are growing in their craft and confidence. Their latest, GIFT HORSE, and 2007's GLASSJAW BOXER are two of the best rock albums ever produced...period. Check 'em out, you won't be sorry.
Stephen Kellogg and the Sixers is the BEST BAND that no one is listening to...and has been for over a decade. OK, saying 'no one' listens to them is an exaggeration, as SK6ERS has a small, but rabidly devoted following all across the U.S. Kellogg is one of the most engaging, affable entertainers you will ever encounter, and in concert he delivers an almost VH1-Storytellers-type show that alternates between rollicking, wonderfully conceived, rock 'n' roll tunes and often hilarious monologues.
I was so impressed with this band. I recently saw them with NTB. I felt that Stephen did an awesome job connecting with the audience, better then NTB. Great show, mix and harmonies.
boloidaho
Fun group. Saw then with NTB.

Unfortunately missed them when they came to SF recently, but I saw them last year with Tyrone Wells and was blown away. Amazing performers.
Saw them a few years ago with a friend but didn't pay attention....just saw them again with NEEDTOBREATHE and they were AWESOME. So energetic and fun. I can't wait to see them again and get some of their albums.
