SR-71

Taking their name from the fastest airplane ever built, the alternative rock foursome SR-71 are here to stand and deliver jaunty punk songs with a corporate rock edge. Coming together in the early '90s in their native Baltimore, SR-71 -- guitarist frontman Mitch Allan, bassist Jeff Reid, drummer Dan Garvin, and guitarist Mark Beauchemin -- lunge into quick swirling three chord loops and spastic excitement, similar to punk-pop revivalists such as Blink 182 and Less Than Jake. SR-71's raw punching sound reflects the band's deep influential roots in British punk bands such as UK Subs and the Sex Pistols, but they also cite respect for the Beatles, Queen, Duran Duran, and The Police. Their debut for RCA, Now You See Inside, was released in summer 2000. It eventually went gold, however changes loomed ahead. Within a year the band saw the departure of Garvin and welcomed drummer John Allen. The new four-piece resumed schedule for a sophomore record. Tomorrow boasted a slicked sound from SR-71 and appeared in fall 2002. ~ MacKenzie Wilson, Rovi

I personally like both versions of 1985
Why don't people realize Bowling For Soup covered them, and not the other way around? I like both versions regardless.
I do not like this version. I much prefer the cover Bowling For Soup did
Rocks!
This is the original guys 1985 did a cover both are good thoug
These lyrics.... Just no.
follow for a follow
um i hope they dont redo no more bowling for soup songs but they do have a good sound i wanna hear there original stuff
I was going to say this band sounds like Blink 182 and BFS had a baby. Mosquito is playing. I've never heard it before. Nice sound...
SR-71 and BFS are friends and SR-71 released the song in japan which didn't hit and they let BFS put it on their album as a cover which actually broke records and went triple platinum but SR-71 doesn't get as much credit

FOLKS- Bowling for Soup BOUGHT the song 1985 from SR-71. Mitch and crew wrote the song as an SR-71 song and knew it was a great song but didn't think they were doing it justice so they sold it to BFS. that's why the BFS version has a few lyrics changed (no fast times at Ridgemont high or george was gay line). that's why they both sound so similar.
Bowling for soup has a song a lot like this one. Same name too.
bennybigtime
great song that SR-71 rarely gets credit for writing.
Hey letz just chill..... But this is still a cool song so chill
This band doesn't have the Punk mindset of bands like Bad Religion or Pennywise. Instead, they have the 3-chord progression that all Punk bands have, making them at least Punk-Pop. As for the whole BFS thing- SR-71 originally wrote the song and realized they sounded bad playing it. BFS was interested and bought the song. BFS's cover is the same besides a few changed lyrics. Through all of this, SR-71 is one of my favorite bands.
@#173847 The mindset may not be punk, but the genre/sound are at least pop punk.

Hey winstonandsh a r k y don't be a dick bro
This is the first only by a few months though as this album was released in may of 2004 and bfs album was september 2004

i like bfs more
Alright, this isn't punk. They aren't rebelling against anything. Idk what you'd call it but this sure as s**t isn't punk. Agent Orange, The Dead Kennedy's are punk. These guys just took the music style and dumbed it down.
the rubber broke!
follow me ill follow back!!!
follow me ill follow back!
Wow my whole life I thought this was Bowling For Soup's song. Turns out they covered it and changed a few lyrics. Omg
1985 is a song best known for its performance in 2004 by the pop punk band Bowling for Soup which reached #23 on the Billboard Hot 100, and was featured on their album A Hangover You Don't Deserve. 1985 was originally written and recorded by the band SR-71, led by Mitch Allan.
Check out SKILLET!!!!!
Autocorrect sucks: if you don't, that's fine with me* , just shut up*
Just saying, so many stupid f**ks on here that don't have their facts straight. Come on, all those people out there that think bowling for soup wrote this song, fact: you're wrong. Also yeah sr-71 never truly made it big, but come on. They're still a good band. If you like them that's your opinions if you don't, that's for with me. But you don't have to shout to everyone on the Internet about YOUR personal feelings that the band sucks, if you don't have anything good or relevant to say, just shu
Don't read!!!Post this onto three songs and your crush will kiss you Friday. If you don't repost this you'll die in 2 days
Black bird
Bowling for soup is by far better, they just lasted longer and have more hits. BTW BFS wrote the song originally. It's like shout, tears for fears sold disturbed the song and they mad shout 2000, which is not as good.
To anyone saying that they liked BFS 1985 better, its the same song. BFS just remade the song. Personally the original is better. I never heard of SR-71 until I was told to listen to "mosquito" I love SR-71 now!
cant we just all agree the music is good seriously -.-

I have bowling for soup. Dear lord
Bowling for soup is better. Just saying.
Anyone one else notice the lyrics are for BFS 1985?
God I miss this band and all of the 90's through early 2000's
gyrl_frend
I like the Bowling for Soup's 1985 better...
Songwriting credits Jaret Reddick - BFS lead singer.
Onision Lover....the y wrote the song and sold it to Bowling For Soup. Get your facts straight before spewing nasty remarks!
Tomorrow is a great album!
Onision, Bowling For Soup covered the song, which is originally by SR-71.
THIS IS BOWLING FOR SOUPS SONG F**KING RETARDS!
Wow, no mention at all of Honor Among Thieves. They were around Baltimore for a long time before changing the name. I guess their bassist dying put the end to things before they really got rolling, and Mitch making money writing songs for others. Pretty damned good live back in the day.
I love their song Tommarrow!
1985 sound reminds me of Weird Al.
i luv the song 1985
