My dad sung bass in a local southern gospel group when I was growing up so this is music I have known for many years and I enjoy it more now than I did then, I loved it then. I go way out of my way to attend concerts. Just recently was privileged to see Steve Ladd.
Started listening to gospel music on a large old battery radio when I was a smal child. We listened to the Grand Ole Opry, etc. The first group I liked was the Chuck Wagon Gang. We had third Sunday Singings at our church where they sang a lot of the current gospel music. From there on I was hooked on gospel music, Christian music, hymns. Love all the quartets. Always wanted to go to the Gospel Conventions. Never tire of the groups. They have changed over the years, needless to say.
I grew up with this type of music. It has helped to sustsin me though the years. So many of the older groups have passed on, but thank God for the younger ones who are carrying on. God bless all of them.
WONDERFUL memories are brought back to my heart and mind while hearing them sing, memories of how we worshiped the King of kings and Lord of lords some 30-40 years ago. Absolutely wonderful.

Love The Speers. Enjoyed them when they came to Seattle before Brock went home to be with the Lord!!

YUP I remember Dad Speer. I very much enjoyed the Speers when I would go to the "Battle of Songs concerts" in Houston Texas. My first date(1972) was at one of their concerts. They were wonderful
Remember Dad Speer? Well, Pearl Clayburn was his sister and she was a Nazarene preacher in Walker, County alabama. I have been to her house several times. I went to the celebration of their 50th anniversary in singing as well. Great group.

The Speers grew up in Alabama. They sang all over my part of the country. They lived what they sang!
