there's more to shoegaze than MBV. It's unfair to hear a band like this and automatically accuse them of ripping someone off. there have been thousands of bands to follow in Kevin Shields' footsteps, and this, at least upon first listen, sounds like one of the better ones.
All shoegaze is fine with me. There's just something about dreamy guitar feedback and soft vocals that makes me happy I have an imagination. It all started with The Electric Mayhem on the Muppet Show. Dr Teeth invented shoegaze...
you know, my bloody valentine helped define a new genre - so there's many bands that used the same sound. it's a formula that works, and if you're a fan of it then you'll enjoy hearing more of it. she, sir does it well, so enjoy it. but thanks for sharing your all-knowing wisdom and bestowing upon us what great songwriting is all about - i guess you know everything

but yea, Awkward's comment on songwriting is dead-on.
I mean...come on. The trick to being a good songwriter is to blantantly rip off a variety of genres and combine them to create something original.
