Appearing in 2001 with the brutally heavy Feasting on Blood, Severe Torture took the metal world by storm with its thunderous approach and razor-sharp riffs. Although relatively new at the time, the band followed it up with another awesome split disc with established headbangers Blood Red Throne that put their name on the extreme metal map. ~ Bradley Torreano, Rovi
Extreme metal is not a vocal-centric genre. It's about killer riffs and instrumentation. The vocal timbre and delivery are viewed (and used) like some sort of strange hybrid combination of string/woodwind/percussion instrument.
I agree, Andrew, however my point is that Severe Torture is along the same lines as Cannibal Corpse,Exhumed, Cattle Decapitation, etc. Call it goremetal or whatever, it's a totally different breed of deathmetal than Dimmu or Death. And Behemoth is like blackmetal. People listen to "goremetal" not for intelligent or intelligible vocals/lyrics but for the sheer brutality and disgusting factor when you read the lyrics and look at the nasty pictures. It's most often shocking for entertainment value w
no lamb of god isn't worth the listen for intelligible music, some behemoth or dimmu borgir have better intelligence in their lyrics also death has intelligible lyrics for that matter.
Severe Torture is for guitarists/ musicians. Anyone listening to deathmetal for the vocal comprehension is perhaps listening to the wrong kind of music. That's why they give you the lyrics with the cd liner notes. This kind of music is supposed to have deep, disgusting sounding vocals 'cause what they are saying is usually pretty gross, and it goes better with the music. If you want intelligible vocals over heavy music, listen to Lamb of God or something.

Ozzy? You mean the Undead Warlock on World of Warcraft?
Godsmack, hahahha! What A f**kin douchebag you must be. I guess time took care of this pathetic 90's piece of s**t band because what do you ever hear about them anymore. Then again I don't listen to radio stations who play s**t bands like Godsmack anyway! Just keep listening to your mainstream dribble and keep jerking off to the latest Metallica album and stay the f**k away from true metal,f*g!
