Sevendust

The Atlanta-based quintet Sevendust became one of the rising acts in late-'90s heavy metal with an aggressive blend of bottom-heavy riffs and soulful, accessible melodies. The band, comprised of frontman Lajon Witherspoon, John Connolly (guitar), Clint Lowery (guitar), Vince Hornsby (bass), and Morgan Rose (drums), first appeared in 1995 as Crawlspace, releasing the single "My Ruin" on the Mortal Kombat: More Kombat recording. Shortly thereafter, the group changed its name to Sevendust and released a self-titled debut in 1997. Two years later, the bandmates issued the gold-selling Home and played over 800 shows alongside such groups as Creed, along with a stop at Woodstock '99. Their angst-ridden third album, the aptly titled Animosity, appeared in fall 2001, and Seasons followed in 2003.

In late December 2004, word surfaced that Lowery had left the band, and those rumors proved true the following February when Sevendust announced ex-Snot guitarist Sonny Mayo as Lowery's replacement. (Lowery, a co-founder of Sevendust, eventually surfaced in the hard rock supergroup Dark New Day.) Next, Sevendust's fifth album and their first self-produced effort, appeared in October 2005. The record failed to sell as much as its predecessors, but Sevendust nevertheless signed to Asylum Records and issued Alpha in March 2007. Alpha fared better than Next, climbing to number 14 on the Billboard charts and paving the way for the band's seventh effort. Chapter VII: Hope and Sorrow arrived in April 2008, featuring an appearance by former American Idol star Chris Daughtry, followed by Cold Day Memory in 2010. Their ninth album, Black Out the Sun, arrived in 2013. ~ Kirk Dombek, Rovi

Been jamming these guys since their self titled way back when I was in 8th grade! I will always be a 7DUST fan!
I saw them here in Austin with Black Label Society and Dope. It was one of the best shows I've ever been to. They are my favorite metal band period.
Saw them last week (Wed) 03-27-13 at Sycuan resort concert hall, outstanding! TY you 7D for coming back to San Diego!
Met them last night at Crouchstock. Awesome guys. Very fan oriented.
Does pandora play songs from chapter VII?
RIP James Lynn Strait
They played Chris Jericho's theme at one point
Love this band

Saw 7D with Creed and Pantera
One of my absolute favorite bands :) I ♥ you sevendust
Angels son was played at my brothers funeral best choice for the moment 7d is one of the best bands out there
Forgot to add SLIP KNOT - Corey Taylor used to play with Cint from 7D in Still Rain.
Saw 7D when they were bouncin around ATL> ALSO saw Clint when he was with STILL RAIN .... and they were amazing too. The guys from Still Rain are still making music at an amazing level with various big name bands ( 7D, SEETHER, etc.) Hats off to these guys. They absolutely rock.
Can't go wrong with Sevendust. I can always throw on any of their CD's and listen to the whole thing all the way through cranked up of course!
have you seen the video of their song black at the end of the movie strangeland by dee snider. it is so bad a**.
First metal show i ever went to was 7d, staind, and PM5K. Best live performance ive still seen to date
ONE OF MY FAVORITE BAND OF ALL TIME, most energetic band live. and most of all the best guys in general. All of them love thier fans and humble to each of them. To bad they dont visit So Cal too often. But when they do Im at every show!
I'm glad to say I saw them many times. They played my city a lot - because we love them and they love the energy they get from the crowd. I think they would rather play for people who love their music over making big bucks any day.

Musicians playing only for the sake of the music are rare once you get beyond the indie scene.

Ive Been a 7d fan 14 years ive seen them ten times and met them all many times after shows and parties. Once in north dallas at a Drowning pool party they where there along with other notables. Many bands have tried to copy there formula but none are them. Ive seen hundreds of bands over the years nothing tops a 7d show. This comming from a person that went to Panteras last show in dallas 01.
One of the bangingest bands EVER live!!!

Met a couple of the guys outside a concert venue in Omaha Nebraska a while back. Super down to earth, Morgan was really cool and after the show Vince was walking around outside thanking people for coming. This was around the time Seasons was about to be released or just had been so I was impressed how such a widely acclaimed band was that laid back and cool to their fans. You don't see alot of bands on their level act like that. Love Sevendust!
Sevendust. This is my daughter's kind of music. She used to produce bands who played this kind of music and now she plays it herself. LOL!
Listened to them since their first, they have never dipped in music quality. You guys consistently rock!

I SHALL AND WILL LIVE AGAIN!?

Sevendust just fill's a nitch that all the other metal bands I listen to don't. Freakin love this band!
Broken Down is the greatest song!
Won't even give them ashot (Tainted John's band, Sevendust is pretty good
Yeah, tainted John's band is kind of a lame Slayer ripoff
Tainted John your band is pretty lame! Sorry you asked..
I used to see these guys all of the time when I lived in ATL. They were really nice and humble on top of being great performers.

7D is amazing - I saw them for the first time on Shiprocked 2011 (AND they are truly the nicest bunch of guys) and can't wait to hang with them again on this year on Shiprocked 12!! Book now - there are still cabins available! GETShiprocke d . c o m (use me as a referral! Kelly Codner)
I never listened to these guys much until a few months ago and now they are one of my favorites. The singer is reallly good.
Sevendust is one of the most underrated bands I've ever heard and it's a shame these guys are not more popular. They are amazing with Lajon's vocals, drums, and heavy guitar riffs. I never get tired listening to these guys!
Been listening to 7D since i started hanging with my Uncle back in 01, i was 6... still rockin to this day. Seen them live about 6 times now, and i cant wait untill they go back into the studio like they said they would in june!!!! so pumped!!!

Been Rocking out to Seven dust for half my life now haha hard to believe I heard home in 97 or 98, they are one of the few to lose no steam at all over this much time. See them live same with Disturbed, you will not regret it.
I remember buying there first album in highschool. They've been one of my favorites for years.
Sevendust is and has been my favorite band since the Animosity release. The harmonies and melodic chorus's highlight the bone crunching riffs and constant rythmic assault this band has to deliver! Have seen them live several times and always amazed how good they are live. This is a Seasoned touring band and if you EVER get the chance to be a part of that by all means GO TO THE SHOW!
I agree with crevans. I have seen them several times in small venues and they rocked the house(the Knit in Reno baby). Saw them with Korn and Disturbed at Hard Rock in Vegas and I have to say they put on as good as or better a show as both. Sound is clear and loud. Good s**t.

LaJon is my cousin...

Best live band I've ever seen. And that's saying something since I just saw SOAD in ABQ a few months ago.
F**K ALL YOU HATERS WHO THINK SEVENDUST SUCKS. THEY ROCK THE HOUSE!!!!!!! ! >.> F**K YEAH
reps_jay
Saw em in ATL at the Tab last summer! It was epic. There were bad storms that night and no one knew because Sevendust rocked so hard you couldn't even hear the thunder outside. They brought the house down!
I never saw them until one of thier performances with Disturbed and Korn and the Music as a Weapon show........ . . F**KING AWESOME
@cherie1222: they were a better band to see live when he had those long dreads head banging!
good live band
Best band to EVER see live!!!
j30franklin
