my husband and i went to reunion shows for our honeymoon it was the 40th anniversary tour and we followed the dead obviously not as good as if jerry were there but he is 10 years older than i so he got to c jerry i didnt and he agrees with the timing comment as well
In response to the comment below. I was there at that time too (in SF Bay Area) and saw many of the same shows I'm guessing. You are right - as good as it gets and timing is indeed everything.

Merl Saunders and Jerry Garcia--LIVE AT KEYSTONE!!! Believe me when i tell you that it just didn't get ANY BETTER than those shows that we were blessed to be apart of in August--1974!! We also saw a few at the Great American Music Hall during that summer!! Timing is everything!!
Merl, John, and Jerry are all together. I met Merl and he was a very kind soft-spoken man, playing small clubs with the enthusiasm of a child. I am really sorry to see him gone. Still have my autograph, it says "Keep on Groovin'....Merl Saunders. A true force for good in the world, and a beloved musician.
