Sara Groves, a former high school teacher in her native Rosemont, Minnesota, burst onto the gospel scene at the dawn of the new millennium with her fresh vocals and spiritual songwriting. She's been compared to the likes of Shawn Colvin and Rich Mullins; however, Groves defines her own musical demeanor. She cannot be limited to one exact label, for her contemporary Christian hooks also meld into delicate pop. Signed to Epic, Groves issued her debut, Conversations, in early 2001, followed by a string of successful albums including All Right Here (2002), Other Side of Something (2004), Add to the Beauty (2005), Tell Me What You Know (2007), O Holy Night (2008), and Fireflies and Songs (2009), the latter of which was crowned "album of the year" by Christianity Today. Groves' tenth studio album, Invisible Empires, was produced by Steve Hindalong (Leeland, City on a Hill, and Sixpence None the Richer), and released in October, 2011. ~ MacKenzie Wilson, Rovi
I'm a man, but, even so...this is one of my favorite albums. I'm always looking for a complete album(whatever that is). This comes as close to that as anything I've ever heard.

how does she do it? how does she know my life so well and put it into such clever words?

She talks of things that we all experience, but casts them in new light, with amazing voice and music. Makes a grown guy cry.
I love her songs You Cannot Lose My Love and Maybe There's a God They helped me through high school a couple years ago and inspired me to write my own music. Sara's music is so vulnerable and so simple and honest in its beauty.

Love this artist and was privileged to have her father as campus pastor and professor at my alma mater, Evangel University, when she was still in high school. One correction...she isn't native to Minnisota, but grew up in Springfield, Missouri.
Her lyrics are so thoughtful it is....startling. Fireflies and Songs.....two amazing metaphors for the love that we seek. Incredible. If Sara Groves offered me a job I would move my family from Texas to Minnesota TOMORROW. What a beautiful, beautiful sister.
Remarkably in the style of the great era of the songwriters/singers of the early 70s I just stopped listrening to but greatly appreciate--now I'm listening to music by believers like Sara who remind me of that early 70s era but in a context that provides a Biblical foundation that really enriches my soul--wish I had been open to this years earlier. .
I love!!!!! I hope Sara & I live next door in Heaven so I can stand out on the lawn an share what God is teaching about Life everyday. Her reflections are so often the things that I can so totally relate to!!!!I will be great to worship forever into eternity with this sister!!
Sara has such a pure sound to her voice. Glory Come Down is one of my favorites, from her first album. I'd like to see that one redone with an orchestra.

Sara has true FAITH and followed her heart. She stepped out and we are seeing the reward.
I would call Sara Groves the "Phillip Yancey" of the Contemporary Christian music scene. I like Yancey's writing because it is at once thoughtful and accessable. Sara's melodies are lovely, the texts without cliche, and the settings of the songs are interesting musically by using various combinations of instruments. Thanks, Sara, for developing and sharing your gifts of melody and text!
I heard of Sara Groves from a friend in her car. I heard her again on Pandora and decided to create a station and I LOVE her music! It's such a expression of the heart of God. She is an amazing song-writer!
I've met Sara. She's so humble and an example to us with her Christian witness. Praise the Lord for musicians who aren't self-seeking but only seeking to glorify God!
I love love love love love Sara Groves! I love how she sets poetry to music. I have been listening to her while I recover from illness, and her music has helped me heal. She's like a Christian Suzanne Vega. Her lyrics bless me. Thanks Pandora for offering her music to me.
Sara Groves is my favorite artist. In my opinion, she's one of the best songwriters working today in any genre. Beautiful music, poetic lyrics, beautiful voice, and an honest and genuine faith--it's all there.
