It's an 'ostinato'; basically L RR (1 2 3, 1 2 3) on the feet, then whatever the hell you can play with your hands at the same time- try it!! good luck
I saw Rush live one time, and during his drum solo, Neil Peart's riser rotated 180 degrees, he stood up, and sat down again, on the other side of his drum kit, and continued playing. Neil Peart is awesome. The best about it was that if looked down at the crowd, you could see maybe 100 people, throughout the crowd, with their phones open, filming it. They looked like fireflies...
Far from a song. This is Neil Peart's tour de force drum solo from the "Vapor Trails" tour. Particularly, this is from Rush's show in Rio de Janeiro. At one point in the solo, Neil is playing two different time signatures simultaneously! One with his feet the other with his hands.
The remarkable fact is Neil took a five year hiatus from drumming and Rush after losing his daughter in an automobile accident and not quite a year after his wife Jackie succumbed to cancer. Read his book GhostRider
