Officially, the Royal Scots Dragoon Guard was "Scotland's senior regiment and [the Queen's] only regular cavalry." Musically speaking, the Dragoon Guard's Pipes and Drums division traced its roots back to the trumpet and kettledrum sections of early military guards. It was way back in 1777 that what one could have called a band' made its first appearance, and the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards, at least as it came to be known, formed in 1971. It is the bringing together of the 3rd Carabiniers (the Prince of Wales Dragoon Guards) and the Royal Scots Greys. The Guards take on pipe tunes first came to attention to the pop-music buying public in 1972, with their number one (in the United Kingdom, Ireland, and South Africa) single "Amazing Grace." In 2007, Universal records released a new album by the group, Spirit of the Glen. ~ Chris True, Rovi
An absolutely brilliant rendering of a soul-stirring tune. If this doesn't make your blood boil and the hairs on the back of your neck stand up, there's not a drop of Scotland in you.
What an absoulutly beautiful piece of music. I can here this being played in honor of my loved ones who have passed on and are with me forever. I LOVE THIS.
An honor to hear this piece of music. It is sad to hear it and be reminded of all my betheren past and present who have gone before us. Your watch is over. Rest in peace brothers.
I am so in love!!! the music is so beautiful....a friend and I was talking one day and he asked me when I died what song did I want played at my memorial....and I looked at him and said bagpipes...then I got this cd out and played it for him...now before he heard this music he was a big fan of rap music but I turned him to good beautiful music that can make the soul sing and cry at the same time....why in heaven the bag pipes ever got banned in the 1700s I'll never understand
The Last of the Mohicans, my personal favorite by the Royal Scots Dragoon Guard is the only music I'll ever need. If I were stuck with one song ever playing in my head, it would be this one, and life would be grand no matter how much rain fell.
