I love this song, some young lady sang this in The Voice and her rendition was heart-breakingly beautiful. I wish I could here that rendition again...can't even remember her name, but definitely remember the way she sang this song.
The way I understand it is that Gram actually recorded the song with the Flying Burrito Brothers before the Stones did their version. He had been very influenced by the Stones and the Stones (mainly Keith) had been impressed with Gram's knowledge of country music. Jagger / Richards composition but you can definitely hear Gram's influence.
