This is some of the best guitar work in rock music. I love the way the parts dance around each other and intermingle. The rhythm section is also excellent. Bobby's work on the sax is really the icing on the cake.
The Stones are so musically diverse and this exemplifies the incredible range of their limitless bounderies with the amazing sax work by Bobby Keys. Awesome and timeless.
Keith's opening Riff is just incredible. An Open G Masterpiece. With Keith its always been not what he plays, but the open spaces he leaves and his minimalist approach that set him apart from other guitarists that constantly noodle around and leave nothing to the imagination. His chord phrasing during the G, F, and C section in the chorus (Help me baby...I aint no stranger) and the brief licks he plays always struck me as masterful in their simplicity and brilliance.
I was in a Stones tribute band and this was so friggin fun to play. Love this tune. Even the "jazz exlporation in front of a festival crowd" is great. Love the ending climax. That opening riff... wow!... what else can I say!
We use to play air guitar to all the parts back some 30 + years ago....even the jazz instrumental is a JAM anda half....for those of you who have never appreciated it (the 2nd part) trust me its as much of as a groove as the opening RIFF...Great Fun....listened to ths Jam thousands of time...crap I'm even writing about this now....CLASSIC of ALL Classics!
By FAR & AWAY - the greatest RIFF ever....even beat the GREAT iconic Satisfaction.

To me, this song has the most staying power of anything on SF. Brown Sugar and Wild Horses have worn out due to being over-played. Even when I was a teenager I appreciated the long instrumental section.
The solo section sounds like they're trying to sound like Santana: Black Magic Woman, etc. Is it possible Carlos Santana himself isn't making a guest appearance? There should definitely be some Santana listed under the similar songs section.
Chelsea Hotel, 1992-1993, when it wasn't the Black Crows coming through the wall from Robert's room, it was this song. Entered my half-waking dreams. But really came to appreciate the incredible cocaine crystal clarity of Mick Taylor's guitar playing.
