A seminal force in the development of Tex-Mex music, Tejano star Roberto Pulido was born and raised in Edinburg, Texas; upon graduating from high school, he attended Pan American University on a music scholarship, later moving into a teaching career while continuing to perform club dates on weekends. In 1974 Pulido formed his backing band Los Clasicos, honing a distinctive and innovative sound fusing the traditional Tejano orquesta brass style with accordion-based Conjunto; quickly the group became a sensation, scoring a hit with the single "Copa Tres Copa." Pulido -- affectionately dubbed "El Primo" by fans -- remained at the forefront of the Tejano industry throughout the years and decades which followed, issuing dozens of LPs and notching countless hit singles. ~ Jason Ankeny, Rovi
Roberto Pulido played at my parents wedding in 1975. He and my parents used to go drinking together back in the day. He is also the godfather of one of my cousins. We saw him perform about 9 months ago in laredo, tx. After the performance my parents went to the back and talked to him for a while. he is an awesome person who is very family oriented.

Roberto Pulido actualy lived with us when I was a toddler way back in the early 1970's in Arlongtopn Heights Illinois about 20 minutes from Chicago. He rented a downstairs room from us. and THEN,,,,he made it bug. I don't think he'd even remember us right now. I remember my dad absolutely hated Roberto's voice, so my dad went downstairs to where Roberto was and took his acustic guitar and smashed it to pieces on the floor right in frnt of him. I'm sure this is the reason Roberto wound up movin
My friend Roberto(Beto) De La Cruz whom i haven't seen in 20 plus years used to play with Los Clasicos. Roberto's brother Juan de la cruz was one of baddest accordeon player ever. I'd love to see this guys again.
