Ray Anthony & His Orchestra

Ray Anthony played two years with Glenn Miller and ten with Jimmy Dorsey before forming his own band. Anthony led a group in the Pacific during World War II, then had a highly popular dance band. He probably has as much fame, if not more, as the writer of the theme for Dragnet, the novelty tune "The Bunny Hop," and the hit single "Dancing in the Dark." He also had plenty of film and TV work in the '50s, including an appearance in the film Daddy Long Legs. ~ Ron Wynn, Rovi

the King Kamehameha in Kona...under the stars WOW
Amen!
Great music. These guys were musicians unlike the modern mob who have to plug their musical instruments into power points and the lyrics are all "yeah yeah yeah" and no melody

We love the music on Pandora. It starts our morning, and if we desire,we listen throughout the day. The sound of big band music with all the bandleaders of that era, can never be replaced. We love picking out our favorites, and are surprised at times to find another triffic artist.
Love it. Makes me smile, cry and dance.
@ritac290 -- you got that right!

This, the absolute best style of music that I learned to love while growing up in Brooklyn, NY - still gives me goose bumps and chills up my spine when I listen to it. As a trumpet player in a brass jazz band, this music is even more personal to me now and when I need to de-stress, this is the happy place I go to. Long live big band music. I thank God for creating it in human vessels.

I've been reading the comments and it brings a smile to my face knowing that there are people out there who feel the same way as I do about this kind of music. I'm 62 years old and grew up with the sounds of the Beatles and Stones. But I play trumpet and just love how music like this will never grow old. I love playing these standards myself. It reminds me when life was alot easier and more care free. Yes , we had out problems but nothing like what is going on today.
Rock On!
Ray Anthony is oneof the really great musicians. Not too many today. What a pity.
man i love the big bands even if its before my era but that sound oh that sound daddy o lol
When you play Ray Anthony you have the best-the smooth velvet tone of that trumpet, and the great rolling rythmn will live on forever Ray C. Weidner

I use to do a late Saturday nite dance show on KDNC Radio in Spokane Washington. Ray Anthony and Les Brown were always at the fall back for an 18 year old kid tried to pull it off. I loved the music then and I love it more today.

Love that sweet trumpet sound...
in 1957, i was walking down a street in manhattan, and from the 3rd floor of a bldg, i heard the sounds of a great trumpet, so i climbed the stairs to see who was playing..so , that's how i met ray. the shop was parduba' who basically made mouthpieces for brass instruments. . w h a t a thrill that was. at the time, i was in the army band in wash.DC.

Ray Anthony is the consummate musician and orchestra. His music is the best. There isn't better dance music.
I grew up listening to Ray Anthony, he is one of the immortals. What a sound...WOW!
fabulous and romantic, warms you inside and out.
No wonder there are so many of us baby boomers :) Our parents had the most romantic music in the world. Beautiful!
