I grew up listening to music of the 40's so loveALL Big Bands. However, I wasn't really toofamiliar withRay's band. Imagine discoverig a NEW (to me) Big Band to enjoy!! Love it/him.
This, the absolute best style of music that I learned to love while growing up in Brooklyn, NY - still gives me goose bumps and chills up my spine when I listen to it. As a trumpet player in a brass jazz band, this music is even more personal to me now and when I need to de-stress, this is the happy place I go to. Long live big band music. I thank God for creating it in human vessels.
@daniel...amd everyone else who is enjoying this station. You are sooo right! @docd...I was born in 1958: however, my dad loved all of this music... and we still love to listen to it.
I've been reading the comments and it brings a smile to my face knowing that there are people out there who feel the same way as I do about this kind of music. I'm 62 years old and grew up with the sounds of the Beatles and Stones. But I play trumpet and just love how music like this will never grow old. I love playing these standards myself. It reminds me when life was alot easier and more care free. Yes , we had out problems but nothing like what is going on today. Rock On!

I use to do a late Saturday nite dance show on KDNC Radio in Spokane Washington. Ray Anthony and Les Brown were always at the fall back for an 18 year old kid tried to pull it off. I loved the music then and I love it more today.

in 1957, i was walking down a street in manhattan, and from the 3rd floor of a bldg, i heard the sounds of a great trumpet, so i climbed the stairs to see who was playing..so , that's how i met ray. the shop was parduba' who basically made mouthpieces for brass instruments..what a thrill that was. at the time, i was in the army band in wash.DC.

Ray Anthony is the consummate musician and orchestra. His music is the best. There isn't better dance music.
No wonder there are so many of us baby boomers :) Our parents had the most romantic music in the world. Beautiful!

Ray Anthony's Dream Dancing melody was my father's absolute favorite album. He's been gone for 17 years, and Ray's music always reminds me of him. Thank you, Ray. Love you Dad!
The album "Dream Dancing II" is more of this---mellow, beautiful.. Thank you, Ray.

I also rediscovered this beutiful music on Pandora. Thank you. "All the Way" Ray is a buddy of Hef's and a regular at the mansion. Beautiful, beautiful sound from his horn.
He's fantastic--love his take on Wonderland by night. One of his best albums includes the song Michelle, the green berets...he's fantastic. Jackie Gleason wasn't so bad too.

I'm a big Glenn Miller fan who discovered Ray Anthony here on Pandora. Unfortunately, Amazon and iTunes don't sell his music online and the albums are expensive. I would love to have a playlist of all his albums on my iPod.
