Ray Anthony

Ray Anthony played two years with Glenn Miller and ten with Jimmy Dorsey before forming his own band. Anthony led a group in the Pacific during World War II, then had a highly popular dance band. He probably has as much fame, if not more, as the writer of the theme for Dragnet, the novelty tune "The Bunny Hop," and the hit single "Dancing in the Dark." He also had plenty of film and TV work in the '50s, including an appearance in the film Daddy Long Legs. ~ Ron Wynn, Rovi

The Peter Gunn theme song is on the same level as James Bond, I prefer JB (007).

Sends me into dreamland. A time long gone by. I could listen to it forever.
"Well Jonny, I got 6 bullets and there's 7 of you, so a couple of you stiffs are gonna have to share!"
Eu gosta muito da musica de Pandora porque faz me lembrar do Brasil

The theme for Dragnet was written by Walter Schumann, NOT Ray Anthony. However, Anthony did record a version.
Lovely music - thank you
God I love it…! Each time I hear the PETER GUNN theme, I am immediately in the South African Great Karoo where a thundering steam locomotive trailing a long smoke trace in the blue western sky manages the business end of a passenger train wheeling fast and heavy into the evening as night overtaking the land. Onward we hurl through the darkness Zimbabwe our destination by dawn…
I love this stuff and always will - I am not of this particular era so to speak but close to it - My kid who is 14 even listens to it -- sorry for those who do not have the insight of Classic!! You can not find nor will we ever see this kind of talent come back around...now days its all copy and usually the copy is awful and shouldn't have happened!!!
I love Ray Anthony music. And Ray is still alive at 92 years old as of this writing. Thanks for all the wonderful music Ray.

Went to a Ray Anthony gif in Sioux City, IO way back when... yeah, he rocks...
Ray Anthony, like Nelson Riddle knew how to orchestrate a bass trombone into his arrangements .
Nostalgia... p l u s !
Remember Peter Gunn. Wow he was cool back in the day like Sean Connery 007
I love this guy because he is a survivor.... w h e n others were dying out (music dying out) he kept the sweet bands sounds together, and I don't know if he's still playing/cond u c t i n g but he was not too many years back. So few melodic sounds these days!
I always thought this guy was modern, like Stray Cats. It blows me away to see he had a WWII band!

ktm4motox it people like you there is so much hate in the world. Everyone has there own taste of music like art and everything else, try to enjoy your life and don't worry about the rest and if you don't like something or a person you maybe need to move on and keep your comments to yourself. I enjoy many types of music and fine something special in all and don't need your hateful words because knowing a person like you I would be ashamed of your race.

This music brings back memories of the 50's when he played a Saturday afternoon concert at Easters Weekend at UVa.
The music of the World War II era was culturally sound, and, grown-up!
He was married to Mamie Van Doren,
I agree with geeboggs, real instruments! ! ! AND real talent!
In 1956 mywife and I danced to Ray Anthony,s band at the Palladium in Hollywood. At the time he was married to a well known movie sex symbol; can't remember her name. Can you?l
thanks Pandora, on of the most enjoyable apps on the net
Love this music. My wife and I love to dance to the Big Band Sound. Her two favorites are In The Mood and Stardust. We sit on our back porch, enjoying the view and listening to Pandora on my laptop. What a neat thing to do.
Listening to his music makes me feel like a young U. S. Marine again.
We, need more music like this in our day to day work to feel more lively. C.J.D
@geeboggs -- amen!
I think the greatest thing about this music is that it was created with real instruments; not like the digitized popular music of today. Gee Boggs, Sonoma, CA
I am 17 years old and love this type of music I only wish more kids my age knew about this type of music
I am 42 years young (lol) both sets of my grandparents played big band music for me and all my brothers. This music puts you in a relaxed and romatic mood and puts a smile on your face no matter how bad your day went you are taken to a better place, thanks Pandora and all the great musicians who will not be forgotten !
it brings us back to great times!
Thanks Pandora Radio for playing MYKIND OF MUSIC just this side of heaven
Magnificent.
It's just dreamy that we can have music like this at our fingertips -- all the beautiful music stations (if you can find them) feel that Harry Connick Jr. is the signature artist. Ray Anthony is a living treasure. Burt Kaempfert is another that will just make you smile and feel like you're in Palm Springs/Palm Beach -- anywhere life is as we remember it and I'm only 60!
hansel28
yes he is alive
is he still alive
Your music reminds me of the good ole days at Hatfield's Lake and the Country Club.
SAXMAN from Mansfield, OH - Soooo many memories of Ray's wonderful band when they came to Rainbow Gardens in Fremont, OH and I had the most beautiful gal (Barbara) in the place. Should have married her!!!
ralphc8
use to dance to Ray Anthony & his band at the moonlight ballroom in Canton Ohio 1949-1950.
Just an old DJ who loves this kind of music. Oh, the on-air memories. Thanks.

As a kid (25), on behalf of my generation I'd just like to assure you all that some of us do think swing/big band is awesome!
Some of the most beautiful music in the world.

My wife and I grew up with Ray Anthony's music. What he could do with a trumpet and baton. Todays youth don't know what music is. Thanks Pandora
