The Rat Pack

The so-called Rat Pack wasn't a group in the normal sense, but consisted of a loose confederation of actors, comedians, and singers lumped together by the media under that name in the early '60s. Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Joey Bishop, and Peter Lawford formed the core of the Rat Pack, and they appeared together in several movies, including Robin and the Seven Hoods and the original Ocean's Eleven.

Sinatra, Davis, and Martin, the singing contingent of the group, all managed long individual careers in the recording industry, and would occasionally band together to do nightclub concerts, frequently in Las Vegas, that were equal parts comedy and music, and heavy on caricature, playing off of the trio's huge public personas. Several of these shows have been released on CD, VHS, and DVD under various titles, and while they conjure a kind of emblematic nostalgia for a particular time and place in the mythic 1960s (a time when a martini and a tux were seemingly all you really needed), Davis, Sinatra, and Martin are musically much better served by the material on their individual albums. ~ Steve Leggett, Rovi

Sinatra was the man....alway s will be the king of his genre! A b actor but some of his movies were classic.

I just hit 40 years old and listen to this type of music most of all. I was raised on this which is what my parents listened to. It just stuck on me. I even got to see Sinatra in Cincinnati when we lived in Ohio. I was thirteen at the time so it was 1986. There were so many people inside this place and the whole atmosphere was incredible. I even hear Mack the Knife which I know is not his song but that was my favorite song he sang. I was the youngest person there probably. I will never forget!!
bbysmeal. buy a dildo and quit rambling. god your pathetic.... . . . . . .
Just One of Those Things. Whatever. Some guys are just about that THING. Like Lauryn Hill says in her song (Doo Wop) That Thing. I'm not about That Thing darling. You have to think deep with me and forget about surface Shallow BS. It's not just sex I want. But, sex is HOT but not when you can't even take me out on a date. HAHAHA
I love Jack Johnson's music but I'm going to go listen to Delilah on Star 104.5 and then Art Laboe on HOT 92.3 starts at 7pm PST and 9pm CST so I'll probably go listen to Art Laboe at 9pm my time CST. There are two numbers for Art Laboe: (866-246-892 3 ) or for Art Laboe Dedications & Requests, call 800-681-2121
Call both. I did each one twice until i got through, in succession.
So, I got through on the phone to Art Laboe at HOT 92.3 in SoCal and he said himself that, and I quote from his website
just classy cool

I lived in those racial america times, Mr. Sammy Davis Jr. is one of our countrys heroes that broke down the doors of equality by being told those things and not giving in to the jim crow. Because of this pioneer we have a great american president. GOT TO LOVE IT.
Best muisc now and then!!!!!
The following comment it is all IMHO
I love the RAT PACK and the indivual members.
My one strong objection was the way Sammy Davis Jr was treated.
He was the BUTT of so much.
It was very unkind.
Many years ago I read an artical that Sammy Davis Jr wrote.
It was so long ago that i can't quote where to find it now.
It was not on the Internet.
In the artical the jest of waht Sammy davis Jr said was...
.if not for Sanitra he woud have had to contiune to stay in COLORED ONLY motels

The music of Sinatra and Martin will always be remembered and poplar by many as it represents a great era of music that typified our country at a special time in its history. Also, it is truly music with the beautiful sound of orchestra, music with melody and talented vocalist.... . . . . n o t noise.

Way better than the junk out these days....

*sniff* it's just so beautiful... . . . . . . . . i love them with all my life and i am only 13. my brother got me and my sister into them and i cannot thank him enough. pitch perfect (no pun intended)
My daughter could sing along with Dean and Frank when she 7-8 years old. We would go for a long ride in my Miata, top down, cd player on loud and just sing along. It was the best of times. She would ask me - did you bring the boys? The boys were Frank, Dean, etc.
Dear to my heart !
Funny thing, my 24-year old daughter knows the lyrics to many of these songs because I used to play Dean, Frank, Nat King Cole, etc. on the cassette player in the car, taking her to school back in the day. She LOVES this music.
Ahhh.. Real music. (:
I'm fairly young and don't enjoy the music artists are coming out with these days. But i do, however, enjoy the simplicity and awesomeness of this! :)
Just watched the original Ocean's Eleven the other day - love that movie! If you love the Rat Pack singing, check it out. They were just the coolest.

Frank, Dean, Sammy. The Kings of Coooool!

Sammy is a funny-man, Frank is the face and fire, and Dean gives those sweet melodies...

Never a better mix of talent and personality has ever been assembled.
Now this is real music! the music today is just all computer generated. these guys sounded just as good on stage as they did on they're recordings. i like them all but Dean is my favorite there is just something about that guy (he was so cool and smooth) and his voice is crazy good. i always felt bad for dean it seemed like frank sinatra got all of the attention even though dean was taller, more handsome, and sang better. dont get me wrong frank sounds great and has a unique voice but its ju
tunes like this are timeless

I LOVE THIS MUSIC, IT FEEL YOUR SPIRIT AND SOUL.. WISH I COULD TURN BACK TIME.
I love the old movies with Bing Crosby and Frank Sinatra, those old singing and dancing movies back when Americans as a whole loved this kind of music. I miss it, and I was born in the 90's!
Your date of birth doesn't have any thing to do with appreaciatio n of good music, nor does the date of production of that music.
I grew up listening to these guys. And I've NEVER EVER regreted it.......... . . . . . . .
I am too one of those people that feel I was born in the wrong era. I was born in the 80s and I am in love with 40s, 50s and 60s
