This song works better as a mood piece than an actual song, much like most of Radiohead's next two albums. I'm not sure why it became so popular; I think it's one of the weakest songs on the album. Doesn't even compare to the better songs off of the B-sides album (Pearly, Palo Alto, Polyethylene).
Am I correct that one of the reasons he is going to kill himself is because the government really doesn't speak for us at all and he felt there was nothing more to live for without our freedom?
