queer anarchist with extremely eclectic musical tastes. these days i mostly listen to jazz and hiphop, but i still enjoy punk rock and all forms of experimental muzik.
as far as jazz goes, i like everything from swing to bebop & hardbop, from jazz standards to avant-gaurde & freejazz. some of my favorite jazz musicians include thelonious monk, sun ra, john zorn, john coltrain, herbie hancock, sonny rollins, cannonball adderly, don byron, david boykin, nicole mitchell & the black earth ensemble, naked city and ken vandermark.
i listen to all kinds of hiphop from oldschool to nu school. underground, leftfield and pop. some favorite hiphop artists include felonious, zion i, de la soul, tribe called quest, afrika bambaataa, common, kanye west, deep dickollective, katastrophe, the roots, run dmc, digable planets, the jungle brothers, mos def and aesop rock.
through most of the 80's and 90's i was extremely into punk rock. first getting into bands like dead kennedys and d.o.a., as well as early pre-punk bands like the stooges. later getting into anarchist bands like crass and conflict and early chumbawamba (yes, they started as an experimental punk band before getting into pop music). throughout the 90's and even on into the new millenium i was really into the underground scene, where i booked benefit shows for many different grassroots and community based organizations including infoshops, distros, food co-ops and jail funds for arrested activists.
i prefer old school '77 punk, new wave and nowave, however i do enjoy 80's hardcore and thrash. favorite punk groups would include the dead kennedys, crass, the ex, d.o.a., nomeansno, the clash, subhumans (uk), citizen fish, the crucifucks, x-ray spex, bikini kill, JFA, m.d.c., anti-flag, black flag and the circle jerks.
