I was born on May 8, 1945, hence my name Victor. My family were employed by the US government and we lived in Honbolulu, Hackensack, NJ, Warner Robins, GA, and Richmond Va. I joined the US Army in 1962 in Richmond and was eventually sent to Berlin Germany. After spending 2 years as an infantryman, I auditioned for the 296th Army Band and spend the next 19 years playing trombone in Army bands. I was stationed in Berlin, Edgewood Arsenal MD, Viet Nam, Ft Hood TX, Camp Zama Japan, and my last duty station was Ft Sill OK. I love all kinds of music but jazz and swing are by far my favorites. I have the priviledge to play with great musicians over the years and my life ahs been stamped with their influence. I am prsently listening to JJ Johnson whom I met at a place calle Doug's Place in Berlin Germany in 1967. He was not only the best trombone player ever and muscian par excellant. He was the kind and hmble. I enjhoyed a conversation with him as we listen to Clark Terry jaming.
