Beware. Honest and truthful rant. The 70s, when the world turned from B&W to color, was the best decade for music and pop culture in American history. A three year sampling from the AC charts yielded more than 100 songs that went straight to number one which was unprecedented in the 20th century. For comparison, today's modern audio poison millennial noise is lucky to place a half dozen no. 1s in any given year. Moreover, if you do a scientific study based on the parameters of the Music Genome Project, the 70s wins out every time. Most hits back then were melodically superior and depressed Gen XYZ fans who prefer minor key tonality can't deal with happy music. With online and/or satellite radio, all you get treated to from the 70s is obscure soul, R&B and disco minus AM pop, soft folk rock ear candy and the singer songwriter hits that defined the decade. So my taste reflects catchy real music left out.
