I strongly feel that Tom Shear (Assemblage 23) is a freakin' charismatic God who is too brilliant for his own good, and for our time. Personally, I don't think he will ever truly be appreciated as a musician for his mind and abilities. Get to know his music if you haven't yet.
Check out Sick of it All, Vision of Disorder and Bloodsimple, too. If your ears are set to "musically palatable," then you won't regret it. It's some of the best NYHC you'll ever hear.
I also have an appreciation, passion and strange love for some EBM. I think it's a Neuroticfish song that has the repetitive line that says "Electronic Body Music... is dead." Whether that's true or not (I say it's not), is all in the ear of the listener, and eyes of the beholder if you ever get out to night clubs. As for the EBM groups and or musicians: Imperative Reaction, Assemblage 23, VNV Nation, Covenant, some Seabound (though a bit more synth-pop than EBM over all), De/Vision and a mix of your "not so mainstream EBM, but more industrial category-type groups" such as Funker Vogt, :wumpscut:, etc. are definitely enjoyable.
Oh, yeah... Pretty much any and all things German. Now there's an infatuation I can ramble on for hours about, but I'll spare you from being subjected to it :)
