Love music of very wide range and love to compose and record too.
Right now (April 2011) I am listening a lot to electronic/analog sounding music, Bassnectar, choir music and film music.
Really like a lot of Brazilian samba and bossa related, some African artists and bands (the old Ethiopian Jazz stuff, Habib Koite, Vuhi Mahsela, Ali Farka, some woman Traore and more).
I really like super heavy, grudgy metal a la Entombed and Motorhead. Also really like flexible grindcore ala early Dillinger Escape Plan.
All time, overall favorite bands are Bad Brains and Fishbone.
Early to mid 80's American hardcore is great (MDC, Dead Kennedys, Black Flag, Rhythm Pigs), and so is some British punk/Oi from the same time (GBH, Blitz, Crass, Zounds, Cockney Rejects, Subhumans, Conflict).
Like Depeche Mode, Frank Zappa, some Mike Patton projects.
Generally like rhythmically strong and interesting music, normally not into drone'y stuff (maybe except for some select Enya songs). I am too impatient. Repetitive is fine.
Really dig Jamiroquai, Madness, Public Enemy and Clash.
Love the sound and vibe of old ska and reaggae, Studio One, Trojan Rec's.
Really like some hit list music by Max Martin, Dr Luke.
Really like Missy Elliot, some by Timbaland.
Think that the most perfect pop song this far is "I want you back" by Jackson 5.
Think Duke Ellington and Louis Armstrong are giants.
I am a drummer at heart and love horns!
I am a songwriter (and maybe a producer?) more than anything else.
I think the clarinet is a totally under estimated instrument these days.
I have played drums, bass, guitar, sung, done sound fx in different bands.
I have run my own 8 piece band.
Ok, this is too much fun. I can sit here all day.
Music is great! HAHAHA.
