Jazz, Latin & Funk. That's my daily bread and has been throughout my life. By Latin, I mean Afro-Caribbean music from Puerto Rico, Colombia, Cuba and the DR. I also love World music especially African, Indian and Caribbean variety - Jamaican Reggae, Colombian Cumbia, Haitian Konpah.
By Funk, I mean old school James Brown, EW&F, Maceo Parker late Miles Davis, Grover Washington Jr. My jazz tastes run from Charlie Parker and Duke Ellington in the 1940's to Soul and Latin Jazz in the 1970's and beyond.
I also enjoy music with a Spiritual Element, a meditative trance-like or uplifting quality. Jazz in the vein of Coltrane, both John and Alice, Pharoah Sanders, Miles Davis electric, Deep House, Folkloric Colombian Cumbia, Gospel music, Indian mantra chanting, Latin Rock and Soul, Bach cantatas and other European choral music.
My version of da "Oldies" is Puerto Rican, NuyoRican jazz and Salsa: Palmieri, Puente, Lavoe, Blades, Barretto, Fania!!! And Colombian Cumbias on Discos Fuentes! Que viva la musica criolla!
