Jazz, Latin & Funk. That's my daily bread and has been throughout my life. By Latin, I mean Afro-Caribbean music. Especially from Puerto Rico, Colombia, Cuba and the DR. I also love World music especially of the African and Indian and Caribbean variety - especially Jamaican Reggae, Colombian Cumbia and Haitian Konpah.
I also enjoy music with a Spiritual Element, a meditative trance-like or uplifting quality. Jazz in the vein of Coltrane, both John and Alice, Pharoah Sanders, Miles Davis electric, Deep House, Folkloric Colombian Cumbia, Gospel music, Indian mantra chanting, Pakistani Sufi music, Bach cantatas and other European choral music.
My version of da "Oldies" is Puerto Rican, NuyoRican jazz and Salsa: Palmieri, Puente, Lavoe, Blades, Barretto, Fania!!! And Colombian Cumbias on Discos Fuentes! Que viva la musica criolla! For my own music, check out my website: www.martinfranco.com Peace...MF
