I've enjoyed listening to and playing music from an early age that continues to this day. I began playing instrumental music in fourth grade, quickly picking up the alto sax and playing it with good success until my sophomore year in high school. At that point, I made the unlikely switch to the trumpet, and I haven't looked back since. Along the way, I also learned to play the clarinet and French horn. Picking up new instruments seems to be easy for me, and I try new ones whenever the opportunity strikes me.
As for my personal tastes, they range from classical to metal with a lot thrown in between. I've played classical and jazz, but I do love me some hard rock. I have a rather extensive collection of favorite bands, most of which are of the classic rock genre.
My best musical experiences have been moving personally: experiencing the aural awesomeness of KISS during their 10th anniversary tour; seeing an absolutely mind blowing performance of jazz guitar by virtuoso Stanley Jordan in 1988; seeing Seal perform live in San Diego on the campus of SDSU (for free, mind you); jamming and laughing my a** off at the sexually nonsensical lyrics of a 2 Live Crew concert (twice while still in high school); and, the experience I waited a lifetime for, getting to see Roger Waters perform The Wall in 2010. It's an experience I will NEVER forget.
