Edd Townsend

Public Profile
[profile]www.eddtownsend.com/[/profile] Edd Townsend is a US School of Music/Guitar Department graduate and has played guitar professionally since the age of seventeen. After over forty years of guitar playing, Edd claims that his early influences were Chet Atkins and Merle Travis. Edd was later drawn to the musical styles of Jerry Reed, Red Peterson, Jerry Case, Tal Farlow, Tony Motolla, Charlie Carpenter, Ron Hensley, Clint Strong, Tommy Jones, Lenny Breau, and Bob Smallwood. For over nine years, he was a regular member of the house band at the Edelweiss in Ft. Worth, TX; the Bob Bohm Trio with Ron Thayer, and many German Om-Pah orchestras, mainstream and Dixieland bands. His own restaurant and club, "Mr. Guitar's Dinner Club" , in Ft. Worth was a hot spot for guitar players in the early 1980's. Although Edd's first love in music being jazz, he has distinguished himself in other types of music; such as classical, western swing, ethnic, pop, country, blues, and gospel guitar which is one of his favorites. Edd can be heard on many Nashville recordings such as "Nashville Stars Vol. 2" as well as "From Back Home with Love" and "I'll Be In The Rapture". During 1987, Edd became involved with the legendary Four Freshmen as a promoter of their fabulous sound and later founded the Four Freshmen Appreciation Society. This led to relocating his base of operations from Ft. Worth to Las Vegas, NV... where the Freshmen have called "home" since the 70's. In the late 1980's, Edd's life in Las Vegas with the Four Freshmen became an ever-increasing string of events. He, and his then wife Linda, organized the first Four Freshmen Convention, then held at the Barbary Coast and Hacienda Hotel. This event has now become a major festive annual gathering for Four Freshmen fans from all over the world. As the busy life continued in Las Vegas during the early 1990's, Edd became a regular featured soloist at the Westward Ho Casino performing along with the group known as Wildfl
