I realize the statement that

I live in MULTI-CULTURAL South Florida: winter, mild and dry; summers, hot and wet. Crowded, overbuilt urban setting dominated by cars.
Although born in Alabama, My earliest memories are of panther screams and alligator grunts set in The Town of Davie,a now crowded suburbia trying to say it's rural, southwest of Ft. Lauderdale. I feel it ironic that the class photo I donated to Davie School, the oldest standing school building in Broward County, is the oldest in their collection. Disconcerted by that truth.
Needless to say, I have seen many changes here. Members of my family were Floridians before Florida joined the Union. I am a Florida Cracker (in the most positive sense)through and through, and proud of it.
