I've been listening to and loving Jazz since I was a young girl, around the age of 12.
Radio stations in the Sixties had a certain time slot for Jazz, and I was sure to tune in, while my friends were listening to the usual R&B.
While living in Detroit, I grew up on the Motown sound and all other R&B, but I was fascinated by the talent I heard on Jazz tunes, late on Sunday nite. All kinds of instruments, coming together to make such beautiful sounds...Just music, without the words. WOW!
I've always had an affinity for the times of the 30s and 40s, and this music was a big part of that era. LEE MORGAN on trumpet is my all-time favorite! Genius and pure talent...major crush! When he passed away, I cried as if I knew him personally. I'd never get to see or hear him in person. But the music lives on.
"You go to my head" is my favorite tune ever. Check him out if you haven't already.
LIVE and recorded Jazz does it for me. The GOOD stuff...not the fluff...Enjoy the music
