After 10 years of classical piano, rock and roll took me. As a kid I had been taping pencils to the strings of our Steinway grand piano to get it funky sounding. A friend with an electric guitar would come over and we'd play Beatles songs from books he brought.Played in a couple bands throughout college and them went into music full time. At 21 I left for California and told my parents I'd be back with a recording contract. About 8 months later Zappa signed my group and released an album. We got about as far as one could go without making it. No regrets, it was a ball and a testament as to what positive thinking can accomplish.
After a few years of not working hard enough to become successful in the music biz I returned to Chicago and began working as an apprentice at a recording studio. Went on to be a recording engineer for the next 10 years until I realized that if I was going to retain any hearing at all I'd have to leave the business.
So here I am in Eugene Oregon working as a hearing specialist dispensing hearing aids. Still in the audio business helping people to hear better.
